Week 1 Term 2
Principal Message
Dear Parents,
I hope that you all had a wonderful holiday and had some valuable family time.
During the school holidays we had Solomons Flooring, Kalgoorlie re floor the Science Room and the Music Room. In addition we have had some painting works happening in the administration building, Kindergarten room and children's toilets. BHP has kindly re floored our whole administration building and it looks fantastic! Have a look at our photos below of these projects.A big thank you to Colleen Sokra'a who has overseen these projects throughout her own holidays. We will continue to prioritise maintenance in the school and ensure that everything is in good working order and presented to a professional standard for our students and staff.
We are very excited to have the children back at school and we are please to see more than 90% attendance. We have introduced new cleaning routines with allocated funds and continue to promote good hygiene.
This term our focus on whole school documentation, ensuring that all teachers are teaching an aligned vision at Leinster Community School and ensuring that we have updated scope and sequences in every learning area. We will be reviewing our policies and operational planning through out the term.
Thank you for your support
Kind regards
Claire Barbosa
Principal

Drop Off and Collection of Children
Thank you to all parents who have quickly adapted to our new drop off and collection of students at LCS. We would appreciate parents staying in the car and Nicole and Claire will be there to assist the students getting safely through the car park to their classroom. Parents are reminded not to gather on school grounds and to leave the area as quickly as possible.

School Playground
The playground is being regularly cleaned due to new Department initiatives under COVID-19. Students will be able to use the playgrounds during school hours however; they are strongly encouraged not to use them outside of school hours. We are being cautious in relation to groups of people being seen to gather on school site.

Welcome Olivia Parslow in Pre-Primary
We would like to welcome our new Pre Primary teacher-Olivia Parslow and her family-Hayden and Timmy. She has sent out an introduction letter to her families through Seesaw along with a video. The children are excited to have their teacher and she is settling in beautifully to Leinster life!

Uniform
We have uniforms on the way from our new suppliers in Perth, Fully Promoted, Malaga. There are hats, jumpers and shirts on the way with a new hoody being introduced due to our previous jumper becoming discontinued. Please ensure, with the change of season, that you child is in uniform. You can purchase black leggings, cargos and trackies from Kmart, Big W or Best and Less. We have plenty of jumpers in stock should you need one. Please ensure that uniforms are labelled.

Mothers Day Stall
We are happy to announce that our annual Mothers Day Stall will go ahead next week thanks to our wonderful P&C. The ladies will be setting up the stall on Saturday at 1pm in the Home Economics Room. Please contact Danielle McLaughlin if you would like to help. Students will be able to purchase items on the following days:
Wednesday 6th May- Kindergarten and students working from home
Thursday 7th May- Pre Primary to Year 12 students
The students will need cash to purchase an item or two for their Mothers.
Please also see the message below regarding an opportunity to order a gift through the tavern.

ANZAC Day
ANZAC Day was remembered in individual classes this year with many classes making Poppies to remember all Australians and New Zealanders "who served and died in all wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations" and "the contribution and suffering of all those who have served". Some of the Poppies made will be displayed in the front office.

COVID-19 Update
Some recent changes in response to COVID-19 in the school are the relaxing of social distancing expectations for our children. An increase in the time we have been allocated to perform cleaning duties. The employment of an additional casual cleaner to constantly address high touch surfaces and clean the playgrounds. Teachers continue to encourage good hygiene routines with the students.
New Comprehension Packs for Kindy and PrePrimary Home Reading
Our Kindy's and Pre Primary's will soon be bringing home some new comprehension packs each week. We hope you enjoy this experience with your child.
Cubby House for Kindy
We would like to revamp the Kindy playground and we are thinking of purchasing some of the Kmart Cubby houses to turn into a shop and a petrol station on the bike track.
If you are creative and would love to help paint up a little cubby please email Claire: claire.barosa@education.wa.edu.au

Running Club
This term we would like to start a running club for students on Tuesday mornings at 7.30am. Due to social distancing restrictions at this time we ask that only school students come along. However when these restrictions are relaxed we will strongly encourage parents and siblings to join us. We are currently looking for expressions of interest from families to see who may be interested and what year groups to cater towards. Please email Gemma if you would like your child to take part. Further details will be available when we have a clearer idea of how many students are interested.
