Hooch Happenings
September 2, 2022
Todd's Tidbits
Hooch Community,
We are getting ready to host our Curriculum Nights for parents to meet teachers and run through their student's schedule.
- Thursday, September 8th for grades 9 and 11.
- Thursday, September 15th for grades 10 and 12.
**Both evenings will be 6:30-8:00 p.m.**
We host two nights because of the traffic and parking issues that develop when we have attempted a single night in the past. As a reminder, this is not a time for individual meetings/conferences. Teachers will have set agenda to let you know a little about themselves, the course of study, and give you some idea of how the class is run.
If you feel the need for a more in depth conversation, please make arrangements with the teacher or the counseling office should it involve multiple teachers.
We look forward to seeing you!
All the best,
Dr. Mike Todd
Principal
Showing up Matters for R.E.A.L.
Parents and Students! September is Attendance Awareness month, and we are excited to share our theme for this year.
Showing up to school on a daily basis provides the opportunity to:
● Build Routines
● Increase Engagement
● Provide Access to resources
● Support Learning
During the month of September, we will highlight ways we can support each other in making sure students are on time, present and ready to learn.
9th & 10th Grade Residency Verification Form
Fulton County is requiring that all 9th and 10th graders provide the Residency Verification form for the 2022-2023 school year. Attached is an online form that can be used instead of a paper form for this verification. Two accepted proofs of residency must be uploaded to the form. This link can also found on Chattahoochee’s website.
Families that have not submitted verification of residency will be contacted beginning September 1st.
Counseling Corner
Senior Information
Thank you to all the families who tuned in to the Senior Information Night last night! The video will be available on the Counseling website early next week. The Counseling Office will begin processing transcript and recommendation requests after the Labor Day weekend.
All Seniors have been added to Teams for their Counselor, and that is where many announcements will be shared with them. The Senior Profile has been added as an assignment to their Teams for any students who are applying to colleges that require counselor recommendation letters. Directions for completing the Senior Profile, as well as the deadline for it to be submitted, are included in the post.
Senior Check-In meetings will begin next week! The Counselors would really like an opportunity to help guide your student through their post-secondary options and better understand the plans they are making. Seniors can schedule an appointment by coming to the Counseling Office and scanning the Senior Check-In QR code for their Counselor. Both virtual and in-person meetings are available, and students will indicate their choice when they schedule the meeting. If parents/guardians would like to attend the meeting as well, please speak to your student ahead of time to ensure they choose a day/time that works for your schedule. Then, students should forward their meeting information to their parents/guardians.
Suicide Prevention Awareness Month
September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month. According to the CDC, suicide is among the leading causes of death for people ages 10-66 and is the second leading cause of death for young people ages 10-14.
Despite being a leading cause of death, suicide is preventable. During this month, our school will be drawing attention to the problem of suicide and advocating the prevention of this tragedy. We encourage our students and families to participate in Suicide Prevention Awareness Month. We will be sharing resources and activities throughout September to bring awareness to suicide prevention. The awareness generated this month has the potential to have an enormous impact on our school community, even the chance to save a life. Thank you for supporting this initiative and continuing the conversation at home with your students.

From the Cafe
Parents: Please Check Your Student’s Café Account Balance
You might not realize that your student is eating in the Café. The Chattahoochee Cafe offers healthy meals daily at a reasonable price. Breakfast is $1.25 and lunch is $2.70. Students may qualify for free meals or for reduced price meals. Parents can put money on their student’s account for meals and/or extra sales, view account balances and purchase history, and set up low-balance reminders by visiting www.mypaymentsplus.com. Cash or check payments can also be made in the school’s café.
A NEW application must be completed for the 2022-2023 school year. Due to COVID-19 National Waivers, families did not have to complete an application during the last school year. However, these waivers are no longer in effect and all families must complete an application for SY22-23 if they wish to be considered for free and reduced meal benefits this year. If you have not completed a Free and Reduced application for SY22-23, had a change in income, or an increase in household size, please take this opportunity to complete an application. The household is responsible for payment of meals until the meal application is approved. Apply online beginning July 25th at www.fulton.schoollunchapp.com or obtain a paper application from any school cafeteria. It’s easy & takes only minutes to complete!
Cafe Serves Farm Fresh Apples at Breakfast and Lunch all September!
During the month of September, crisp, farm fresh apples served at breakfast and lunch are part of Fulton County’s School Nutrition Harvest of the Month Program. These regionally grown Apples are heading straight from a North Carolina family farm to your breakfast and lunch plate! Because the watermelon is grown close to home it helps support your regional farmers and takes less fuel to get it to your cafe! Because the apples are grown close to home it helps support your regional farmers, and takes less fuel to get it to your cafe!
