LHS TIGER TALK
November 12, 2021
A Message from the School Nurse
Tiger Families,
As the weather changes into the colder months, with holiday gatherings quickly approaching, and sports now mostly indoors, we expect to see the normal increase in winter illnesses and germs. Please continue to encourage good hygiene, hand washing, and illness prevention measures to keep our students and staff safe.
We have done such a great job so far with keeping our kids in school and healthy. As the school nurse, I would just like to send out a quick reminder to assess your child each day for any signs of illness before they come to school. If your student does feel ill, please check their temperature. A fever is classified as a body temperature of 100.4 F or greater. If your child does have a fever, they should not attend school or school-related activities until they are fever free (without antipyretics i.e. tylenol or motrin) for 24 hours.
If you are having trouble getting your child an appointment with their pediatrician or family physician, please note that many insurance cards have a 24 hour nurse line printed on the back of the card. Also, many doctor's offices have an on-call number or nurse triage line that can answer questions and provide medical advice.
Thank you all again for your support of our efforts to keep our kids in school this year. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to reach out. I am happy to answer any questions to the best of my ability.
