Woodside High School
Weekly Wildcat Notes: November 22 - 26, 2021
Grateful to be a Wildcat! Thank you, PTSA, for filling our cups!
Bravo! to the Cast & Crew of the Fall Play: Stage Door
Message from the Principal
I hope many of you were able to see the Fall Play, Stage Door written by Edna Ferber & George S. Kaufman, directed by Mr. Woodruff. I shared the following message with the cast and crew after Friday's Opening Night:
I could not have been any more proud and heartened by what I experienced last night in the PAC. The students were poised, prepared and professional and the attention to detail with the costuming, sets and smooth transitions all added up to a fantastic opening night. Please extend my joy and heartfelt thanks to each student and parent involved in the performance. As Terry said:
'I live and breathe theater. That's what I'm crazy about. I want to play everything I'm suited for. Old hags of eighty, and Topsy, and Lady Macbeth.'
I hope that audience members find what makes them live and breathe and discover what they are crazy about...here during their time as students at Woodside or by some inspiration from their relationships and opportunities here at Woodside. Thank you and Bravo!"
On Saturday morning, the Guidance Team hosted an inaugural Cafecito with the Counselors reaching out to 11th and 12th grade families whose primary home language is Spanish. It was so heartwarming to listen to the questions and perspectives of our families in this small group setting, and we hope to host more events for all parents in the coming months.
Many thanks go out to our students in The Octagon Community Service Club, affiliated with Optimists International, a widely recognized organization that aims to teach students the value of giving back. They worked together in a Campus Clean Up and collected bags of trash. I call on all our Wildcats to value our clean and beautiful campus and to do our individual part to maintain the beauty of our Woodside campus and facilities.
Thank you to our PTSA for hosting a Coffee Cart last Tuesday, filling our cups with gratitude in the form of custom orders of coffee and tea. From the entire staff, THANK YOU!
Whether you stay close to home or venture farther away to visit family and friends, I wish you a very Happy Thanksgiving holiday. Please find time to connect, slow down and make memories. Please continue to be safe and vigilant with COVID health precautions during your travels and gatherings; we want all students to return healthy to class and all extracurricular activities without any interruptions. Classes are in session only on Monday and Tuesday this week, and we'll see everyone back on Monday, November 29th.
With Gratitude,
Karen van Putten, Principal
