These children were honored at our Annual BRIGHT Summer Reader event.

INTERNATIONAL DOT DAY

Quiver App

Breakout Session

Garcia Elementary joins the world in celebrating International Dot Day. This year our Pre Kinder and Kinder students used the Quiver, an Augmented Reality App to turn their dots into a real objects.


The upper grade students used a Breakout activity called Make Your Mark based on Peter Reynolds book: "The Dot". In this activity students need to solve the different problems given in order to open the locks that are given. All group were able to breakout.

HEB Read In

Garcia Elementary participated in the HEB Read 3 Read In event on September 22,2019. All students and staff dropped everything and read from 10:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.


TEKS 5:Developing and sustaining foundational language skills: listening, speaking, reading, writing, and thinking --self-sustained reading. The student reads grade-appropriate texts independently. The student is expected to self-select text and interact independently with text for increasing periods of time.

FAMILY READING TIME

The library holds a Family Reading Time twice a month to give parents and students the chance to come and enjoy books.
