Bearcat Brief
March 24th, 2020
Dear Bearcat Families.
After a meeting with the Ray County Health Department, Ray County Commissioners and other districts across the region, the Orrick School District agreed to extend the closure of our schools through April 24, 2020. Please know as an Orrick family, it has been heartbreaking to close our buildings to our treasured students and staff.
The Ray County State of Emergency Order included a stay-at-home order until that date, which had exceptions for the essential work our schools are doing to support distance learning and to feed students. Please let us know if you would like to be added to the free meal delivery.
We know there are still a lot of unanswered questions as to what will happen with Prom, Graduation, etc. Please know we will do everything we can to still have these activities at some point in the future. During this uncertain time, we must ensure all staff members are focusing on self care. We must continue to support wellness in the community.
We know, as a Orrick family, we will weather these uncharted times together by supporting and caring for each other in creative ways while we follow safe social distancing recommendations. It has been heartwarming to witness the Herculaneum efforts by our staff and community to support learning and feeding students during our closure. Although we are physically distant, we will remain connected! Our teachers and other staff look forward to connecting with students and families remotely through varies methods.
Please be sure to check the Orrick Website, Facebook page and District App for the latest information from our district, on updated bus route drop off and Grab n Go times: www.orrick.k12.mo.us
We thank you for your patience and understanding during this unprecedented event.
Sincerely,
Dr. Scott Archibald
Superintendent
