COVID-19 PROTOCOLS FOR IN SCHOOL LEARNING
Please check your child’s temperature each morning. Students should not attend school if they have fever and/or related symptoms.
All students (PreK - 12th grade) and all staff members will wear a face covering while here at school. Mask breaks, lunch, and physical activity will be the only times face coverings may be removed. (Please know face coverings include face shields.)
Students that exhibit symptoms at school will be screened by the nurse. If the child needs to go home, the nurse will contact the parent. The child should be picked up within 30 minutes.
All other information related to COVID-19 protocols may be found on the HISD website or by clicking here.
PARENT PICK-UP/DROP-OFF PROCEDURES
Drop off time 7:15-7:55. After 7:55, students are tardy. If you arrive after 7:55, please park and call the front office to gain entrance to the building to check your child in.
Pick up time is 3:30-3:50. At 3:50 students are taken to the office to call home.
Parents/guardians must stay in their vehicle.
Students are not allowed to walk to adjacent parking lots to enter or exit a vehicle.
Parents/guardians are not allowed to walk up to the pick up area to retrieve their student(s) unless the student is in PreK.
Please reference campus maps to see the flow of traffic and expectations for entering and exiting the campus.
The back of the building is for buses only.
Please contact our school resource officer if you have questions regarding procedures.
Attendance
Students should be ready to learn and in the classroom by 7:45.
The official tardy bell will ring at 7:55.
All exterior doors will be locked from 7:55-3:30.
Official Attendance Time is 9:30.
Please send a note to your child’s teacher within two school days when your child has been absent.
Please limit the number of times your child leaves early. Every moment of their school day is important to their success.
If your child needs to be picked up early, please park in the designated reserved spot and call the front office (903-668-5990, ext. 1301). You will want to allow extra time for your child to be walked to your car from the classroom.

Other Important Campus Information
BIRTHDAYS
Parents may not bring treats this school year because of precautions that are being made to keep staff and students safe. Teachers will recognize student birthdays in the classroom and they will be announced on morning announcements. We will return to our regular policy as soon as possible!
CELL PHONES & ELECTRONIC DEVICES
Technology integration is a focus on our campus but we recognize that children need to be taught how to properly use it. Students may bring their devices to school each day but will be required to lock them up in their teacher’s classroom until it is time to use them. Students are not to use them for non-academic reasons and their use must be approved by a staff member.
Devices used for other purposes will be confiscated immediately and the following fees will be charged:
First offense: Student conference with administration and student may collect
Second offense: $15 fine and parent must pick up
Third offense: $15 fine and student is no longer permitted to have electronics in possession.
Any items that are not picked up after 30 days of the last day of school will become property of the school.

Please ensure that your emergency contacts are up to date.
As you change numbers throughout the year, the school needs to be notified. It is so important that we be able to reach you. Please call the school office if you need help with this.
