Message from Mrs. Wilken
Dear Trailblazer Families,
I hope everyone had a nice week celebrating the Thanksgiving holiday. As we move into the last week of November, we kick off one of our school's biggest school fundraisers - The Fun Run!
On Tuesday, November 29 the PTA sponsored Apex crew comes to Stone Ranch to get students excited to run as well as inspire them to be positive and action oriented leaders within their communities. We will kick off this week long event with an all school pep rally. Funds raised from this event go directly back to our school. Money raised goes specifically to providing funding to our amazing teachers as they continue to create classrooms, programs, and experiences for world class learning.
I invite you to participate by supporting your child/ren in this event. More details to come this week. Stay tuned, info to follow soon.
We also have a Community Gathering this Thursday and I hope you will make time to join us for this fun bi-weekly tradition. This week our gathering will be on the playground so we can welcome the DNHS ladies basketball team.
A special thank you for the beautiful breakfast provided to our staff from our generous community. It was a super way to head into the holiday week. Thank you!
As always, proud to be your principal,
Mrs. Wilken

Please Help Increase Our School Funding by Filling Out This Application!
Although school meals are now free to all students, the application for free and reduced-price meals is still very important. School funding depends in part on the number of students at our school who qualify for free or reduced-price meals. With all students now eating for free, fewer families are completing the application and our school is at risk of losing much-needed educational funds. Plus, students who qualify for free or reduced-price meals may also be missing out on discounts on bus transportation, before and after school care, and home internet!
Even if you did not qualify before, but your income has changed, you may now qualify. For example, children from a family of four are eligible if the total gross (pre-tax) household income is less than $4,279 per month, or less than $51,338 per year. Household income information is confidential and applying online is quick and easy.
Apply online at MySchoolApps.com, or pick up a paper application in the school office.

Sick students should not be at school. Thank you for your efforts to help us keep all students and staff healthy. If your child has a fever, please do not send them to school, even if you give them medicine and the fever comes down. All students with a fever must be home and 24 hours fever free before returning to school.
If you need to know the latest COVID protocol, you can always refer to the PUSD website here. You are also welcome to call the health office with any questions at 858-487-8474 x4108 or email Rachael McKinnon at rmckinnon@powayusd.com.
Stay safe and well.

Good Home and School Library Habits
Make note of your library day. Books are due no later than your library day, and can be turned in earlier if you want.
Please remember to put books in backpacks the night before your library visit. Books need to be returned to the teacher's library book spot upon arrival at school.
Find a safe place at home to keep library books so they don't get lost or damaged.
Use clean hands when reading a library book and turn the pages gently. Use a bookmark.
Keep library books away from younger children who might know how to take care of a library book.
It's strongly encouraged to keep library books in a large plastic bag to protect it against food and water spills in backpacks.
Keep library books away from food, water and pets.
Don’t Let the Pigeon Touch the Books!
