Warrior News
A Weekly Newsletter for Warrior Families and Students
May 1, 2020
Principal Message
Hey Warrior Nation,
Who else is excited for this beautiful, sunny Friday and the first day of May! I think we had our fair share of April showers. Now, it's time to get to the May flowers. Who doesn’t love May flowers, right? Something about the brilliant colors and fresh scents that spark an air of hope and better days ahead.
Though we may have to wait a bit yet to see full bloom, don’t underestimate your ability to brighten the world and create a huge ripple of renewed hope. Please consider taking some time this weekend to pick up your phone and connect with a friend or family member you haven’t spoken to in a while. I think it is safe to say that all of us are struggling in some way shape or form with the challenges of COVID-19. A positive call to someone you care about can make a positive impact.
Along those same lines, next week is Teacher Appreciation Week. If a teacher has made a positive impact in your life or the life of your student, please consider sending them a positive message. I can promise you that messages of this nature mean more to the heart of an educator than you could ever imagine.
One final request. Our survey on virtual learning is being shared in this newsletter and via Infinite Campus today. All students will also receive the survey in an email. Please take a few minutes of your time and let us know how things are going. Your feedback and the feedback from our students will be extremely helpful to us as we plan to make these remaining weeks the best they can be for all involved.
Stay strong Warrior Nation! Be the sunshine and make some flowers! WE GOT THIS!

AP Update
Information from Student Services
May is Mental Health Awareness month and our Student Services team will communicate with students through videos, messages of support, and resources to help support students virtually during this time. We understand that isolation can increase feelings of sadness and anxiety and would like to remind students that we are still available to “Meet” and support them. Please reach out to any of our team members if you have questions or concerns regarding your child’s mental health. Our team can also provide resources for therapists in the community that can meet virtually. Stay well, safe, and we look forward to seeing our students in-person next school year!
This message will be sent to all students as well as the video with Michael Phelps discusses how he overcame his suicidal thoughts and his coping strategies.
May is Mental Health Awareness Month and your Student Services team would like to remind you of the importance of seeking help if you are struggling with depression, anxiety, or experience suicidal thoughts. 17% of adolescents struggle with a mental health condition (NAMI.org). During these times of social isolation, it is important to utilize the resources available to you. Your Student Services team is available through email, phone, or Google Hangout. Remember now more than ever that you are not alone and we are together in this. #onewarrior.
Every week for the month of May your Student Services team will send you a video, message, or tip to inspire and remind you that there is hope as we navigate these challenging times together.
