Dear Trailside Families,
As you may know, Loudoun County Public Schools has partnered with Brightbytes, a data analytics organization built specifically for K-12 to provide insights into our new and changing learning environments with the goal of ensuring personalized learning support for all students. We are reaching out to ask you to take part in our school survey. Your responses are completely anonymous, and the survey will take approximately 5 minutes to complete.

Caught Reading at Home:
The TMS Literacy Team is seeking help from parents to “catch” their children reading at home. Please use this form so parents can upload images of their children enjoying reading at home and for leisure. These images may be displayed on the school’s announcements or televisions in the grade level locker bays.

What's Happening in the Library!
What’s Happening in the Library?
The genre of the month is Realistic Fiction. Books in this category feature characters or situations that could realistically happen in real life. YA and Middle Grade Realistic Fiction books typically have characters who are facing current social and family problems/situations. Some of the most popular Realistic Fiction books in our library include,11 Birthdays by Wendy Mass, Wonder by R.J. Palacio, and To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han.
Our Winter Library Incentive, TMS Likes to Read a Latte, is going strong and our most recent winners were, Dev Srivastava - 7th grade, Sania Azad -6th grade, and Tyler Topansky - 6th grade. Winners are announced every other Friday. The next winners will be announced on Friday, February 18, 2022.
Makerspace activities for the month include Danish Heart Weaving using cardstock, as well as a Make Your Own Valentine section so that students can create their own valentines for friends and family. We have decided to leave the Keva Planks in our Makerspace for the remainder of the month as the students really enjoy building tall structures.
Blind Date with a Book has been very successful with the Library staff arranging “blind dates” for over 200 students so far. Blind Date With a Book requests will continue to be accepted until February 14th at 3:00 p.m. Any student who would like for the library staff to select a book for them should complete the Google Form that can be found in the TMS Library Schoology Course.
