Want to be an MCB Club Executive?

Now's your chance to run for office. Elections will be held Thursday, January 28th at 5 pm in Life Sciences South 240. For those who don't want to run, come vote for office positions and enjoy cocoa and cookies with friends.


Elected positions include President, Vice President and Treasurer. To run for President or Vice President, you must have previously held an MCB Club board position for 1 year. Appointed positions include Secretary, Programming Chair and Science Chair. See below for details on what these positions entail and how to prepare and apply.

Application Instructions

Please consider applying for an executive board position with the MCB Club! Your involvement makes a huge difference in the club's success. We want YOU!


Here's how to apply:

  • Fill out the Google form to submit an application by 11:59 pm on Wednesday, January 27th.
  • Send a resume to Lauren Koch (laurenkoch@email.arizona.edu) or Ben Zaepfel (benzaepfel@email.arizona.edu) by 11:59 pm on Wednesday, January 27th.
  • Did we mention all components of your application must be completed and submitted no later than 11:59 pm on Wednesday, January 27th? This is to ensure your name will be on the ballot and you will be up for consideration.
  • If you are running for President, Vice President or Treasurer, please be prepared to give a short speech at the meeting at 5 pm on Thursday, January 28th in LSS 240.
  • If you are running for Secretary, Programming Chair or Science Chair, you do not need to give a speech. Your application will simply be evaluated and candidates will be appointed by elected board members.

Position Descriptions and Special Application Details

President

An elected position. Candidates must have previously held an MCB Club Executive Board position, either elected or appointed, for 1 academic year for consideration. Candidates must be in good academic standing. Preparations include the application form, resume submission and a short speech.


Presidential responsibilities include overseeing the club, planning events, interacting with other clubs and organizations, delegating with ASUA, updating CollegiateLink and ensuring club functionality.

Vice President

An elected position. Candidates must have previously held an MCB Club Executive Board position, either elected or appointed, for 1 academic year for consideration. Candidates must be in good academic standing. Preparations include the application form, resume submission and a short speech.


Vice Presidential responsibilities include assisting with presidential duties: overseeing the club, planning events, interacting with other clubs and organizations, delegating with ASUA, updating CollegiateLink and ensuring club functionality.

Treasurer

An elected position. Candidates must have previously maintained sufficient MCB Club involvement for consideration. Candidates must be in good academic standing. Preparations include the application form, resume submission and a short speech.


Treasury responsibilities include assisting the President and Vice President in their duties, as well as keeping club funds and bank accounts current and functional. Any club duties involving dues or transfer of money in any sense belong to the Treasurer.

Secretary

An appointed position. Candidates do not need to have prior executive board experience to run. Candidates must be in good academic standing. Preparations include the application form and resume submission.


Secretarial responsibilities include acting as backup to the Treasurer, accurately recording meeting minutes, updating CollegiateLink, updating constitutional bylaws with the President and ensuring efficient club organization. Secretarial candidates should also be prepared to assist the Programming chair in planning and organizing events.

Programming Chair

An appointed position. Candidates do not need to have prior executive board experience to run. Candidates must be in good academic standing. Preparations include the application form and resume submission.


Programming Chair responsibilities include organizing club activities. Club activities may include, but are not limited to: social events, academic events and fundraising events. Programming Chair candidates should be prepared for outreach and coordinating between outside speakers and club executives.

Science Chair

An appointed position. Candidates do not need to have prior executive board experience to run. Candidates must be in good academic standing. Preparations include the application form and resume submission.


Science Chair responsibilities include communication with researchers, clinicians, and other professionals of interest to maintain a log of undergraduate opportunities.

MCB Club at the University of Arizona

We are the MCB Club at the University of Arizona. Our goal is to bring MCB students and faculty together through academic and social club meetings. As a departmental club, we strive to offer professional opportunities that inspire new thoughts and creativity, and to offer social events to allow networking with other students to create lasting connections.
