Week of Sept. 7, 2015
I hope you enjoyed your three-day weekend and are ready to continue with the great work we are doing here at Dorsey!! We will continue with our class counts this week to ensure our enrollment numbers. These counts must be accurate as leveling will occur in the next 2 weeks. We want to count every student who is enrolled at Julius Dorsey in order to continue with our current class allocations.
Many Bulletin boards are still blank. Have something posted before you leave Wednesday, September 9, 2015. All Bulletin boards are marked as to who it is assigned to. Ensure that all bulletin boards are completed by the end of the 1st week, every six weeks.
Please make sure lesson plans are completed and sent in by Monday. Remember the plans you are sending in should be for the following week not the current week. We should be planning ahead.
Ensure you have completed the vPLC on LO/DOL as well as printed the certificates and turned in to Ms. Carrera by September 10. The instructional team has walked throughout the building and have seen improvement in LO/DOL alignment. Continue to maintain alignment as you move forward.
Our focus for this week is Purposeful Instruction. Remember to begin with the end in mind and align your instruction to help students reach the measureable goal you have set.
Reading teachers are expected to have a minimum of two LO's and DOL's - one for reading and one for writing.
Student work serves as a good representation of learning. Please post quality student work.
Student desks which are situated in pairs, triads or quads create optimal engagement opportunities.
Many classes have completed the BOY ISIP assessment. If your students have not completed the BOY assessments. Please make sure it is completed this week. It is imperative that you monitor your students when they are working on ISIP and I-Station. Remember the goals from our campus action plan focus on K-2 ISIP data. In addition this is the tool many of you will use for your SLO measure.
If your scheduled time conflicts with another activity please let Ms. Apena know asap.
Tuesday, September 8, 2015 all Teachers will be trained on LPAC. Please be in the Library by 3:15pm. In addition, our first LPAC meeting will be held Thursday, September 10 at 3:15 in the Library. If you have a student who was tested on the ILPT this summer or within the last 2 weeks you must attend the LPAC. If you have any questions please see Ms. Rangel.
Wednesday, September 9, 2015 all teachers will meet in the Library for staff development on TEI scorecards.
We are scheduled to begin enrichment activities Wednesday, September 23. In order to send out a flyer for students to sign up, we must know what grade levels you are working with. We must also know the location, who is the representative for your group, and the max number of students your group will allow. Please make time to meet with your group and send information to Ms. Sanchez by Friday, September 11, 2015. If you have not signed up for an enrichment activity please see Ms. Carrera to sign up.

Every Friday is Spirit Day, both students and teachers may wear jeans for a fee along with a Dorsey, College or Uniform Shirt. Teachers pay $1 and student will pay $.50. Student will turn in money to their teacher. You are expected to collect and fill in students information on the tabulation sheet. All money is due in the office by 9:00 AM. Please remember our attire should continue to be professional when wearing jeans.
Please make sure you follow the schedule for morning announcements. We will continue with 5th grade. Make sure you send no more than 4 students to the office by 8am.
