Earth Day
in the JLC Class
Litter Walk
The JLC Class sang our "Litter Song" while on a litter walk. The children discussed the effects of litter on our Earth. We also discussed how litter has germs, so when we pick it up--we need to check with an adult first and wear gloves! The children were excited to help the Earth and "pick up some litter". Ask your child to sing you the song "If you see a piece of litter"
"Earth Day Everyday"
The children observed a globe and various photos of Earth and then used paper plates, crayons, and colored water to make their very own Earth Representations! The children then used emergent writing skills to identify how they would care for our Earth everyday.
Recycling Board Game
The children worked in groups of 3 to participate in the recycling board game. Each child took turns rolling the dice and moving their animal to the recycling bin. During the game, we discussed the different items we can recycle!
Recycling
Here's a few more songs for you to enjoy with your child! While at home, see if you can find one recyclable item that can be turned into something new. Feel free to send your creations into school on Monday for your child to share with their peers!
