A Message from Principal Bame
Dear LPE Families,
We send Penguin Press Newsletters every other Monday evening with our next installment scheduled to go out Tuesday, September 6th (Labor Day we are closed). However, we have a few timely updates to share with our community this week. Please take a moment to review the following health and safety updates and refer to the helpful links embedded, as needed.
Laura Duncan Road Work - Time Sensitive
- The Town of Apex is conducting road work near the Laurel Park entrance today. We spoke with a representative from the crew earlier this morning and it appears they will be working on the roadway until 5:00 pm today. We have reached out to Cary PD for dismissal support. Please be careful and allow for extra time, just in case.
Bus Dismissal Texts
- We will continue sending text messages to all our tracked in families this week during bus dismissal. After this week we will send out text messages to families by route. Sharing the information as a school these first two weeks allows for us to communicate patterns with our families.
Bus Delay Times are Improving, but Continue
Unless a bus is broken down, please do not come to the school to pull your child from departing by bus after dismissal has started. This creates a chaotic experience within the building and increases stress for children and school based staff.
It is imperative that parents choose how their child will dismiss prior to 3:15 pm.
To opt-in to receive text messages, simply text YES to the number 67587.
Although we do not receive notifications indicating when a bus will arrive to our campus, we will text families when later buses have arrived/ departed.
If you decide to change your transportation to walker, carpool, or after care, please make sure to notify your teacher. Carpoolers will need to pick up a tag from our main office between the hours of 10:00 and 3:00. AM carpoolers do NOT need a tag for drop off.
If you have not downloaded the Here Comes the Bus Application, you can find the directions HERE.
Updated 4th/5th lunch schedules
- The master lunch schedule has been updated to provide more spacing during 4th and 5th grade lunches. Each grade level has 30 minutes for lunch and are not mixed with other grade levels. Spaces are provided in between seats and students have access to hand sanitizer and/or bathrooms for hand washing.
- We are very proud of the efforts of our students and staff in keeping our community safe!
Labor Day weekend - no School Monday, September 6th for ALL TRACKS
- We fully expect that families will travel this holiday weekend. Please be mindful of reporting illnesses and help keep our staff and students safe!
Donations Needed! Paper Towels and Soap Dispenser Refills- Supply Chain Issue
- Due to a national supply chain issue, we are almost out of paper towels and hand soap for our bathrooms. This is not just an issue at our school, but throughout the District. If you would like to donate paper towels and hand soap, please bring donations to our front office. They must still be in the commercial wrapping or unopened for us to be able to accept the donation. Thank you for considering!
