Time is Flying

I can't believe it is February already! As we are moving into the long stretch of winter it gets tough to keep motivated with everything going on! Just remember it is just as hard for our kiddos. If you are struggling with a student academically or behaviorally please ask for help. There is no shame in asking other adults for help or advice. We need to remember students in your class aren't just "your" problem, they are all of ours and we can all help in some way.

Short Observations

The next round of short observations will begin soon. This round is unannounced, but if you have a subject you'd like for me to observe and give feedback on, let me know what time you do this and I'll try my best to come on a day at that time (no guarantees).

Read Alouds

I could give you all the facts and research on how one of the best ways to improve literacy is reading aloud to students, but you can easily Google it if you need to see it. If parents ask how can I help my child, tell them to read aloud to their student. We talk with a lazy tongue, finding easy words to describe what we're feeling and seeing. Many picture and chapter books use rich language that can expand vocabulary. Please take the time to read aloud to your students at some point during the day. I am also willing to schedule a time to come to your class and read some of my favorite books to your students. I have a warped sense of humor when it comes to read alouds, so ask at your own risk. I'd love to come in, just schedule me :)

What Do You Want To Be?

As the video states it's something we ask kids, but do we really listen to them? I think this young man makes some good points and really got me thinking about what is important. I agree with him, I want to be happy!
