But dark forces, human and otherworldly, work against Laia and Elias. From Little Nemo and Superman and Maus and the graphic novel as high art, the comics form has evolved at a furious pace. Here, thirteen artists and writers, almost all lifelong comics fans themselves, offer moving, funny, and inspirational true tales from the labyrinth of childhood, family, friendship, and school, and of the creative struggles that led each to become a master of one of today's most vibrant art forms.

Until this particular Christmas, when Sierra meets Caleb, and one life eclipses the other.

BOOKS TO INSPIRE A NEW YOU
Attention all English students! Just a reminder that you have the chance to earn extra credit by coming to the library. I came and talked to your classes at the beginning of this semester about this opportunity. To receive your extra credit you must come to the library and check out one of the books in the "Books to Inspire a New You" display case. Once you have read the book you must write a paper telling me how the book inspired you or what is one New Years Resolution you could make based on the book that you read. The paper must be at least one-page double spaced. You have until January 31st to check out your book and until February 14th to get your paper turned in.
