Open House this week!!!
8/14/21
Welcome Back-
Welcome to the 21-22 school year! We are so excited to welcome all of our families and students back to the building. We had parent meetings in the building for the first time in a year this past week and it was so nice to have them join us inside.
On a personal note, I am so excited to get to be a part of all of the fun Robinson traditions that we had to pause because of Covid. Although we may not be able to do them all the way they were done previously, we can do them with additional health and safety precautions. I am hopeful that I will be able to build stronger relationships wit our parents now that you can come to meetings in person and not just on zoom. The year will still not be the old normal, but we will be much closer to our traditional school year.
Thank you to the parents and staff who helped us to write our Vision Statement based on everyone's input. Please take a minute to read our statement and provide feedback. Thanks!
If you're new to Robinson- please check out this webpage to learn more about us!
Our new kindergarten families should have received their first newsletter from me. If you did not receive it, please email Andrea Rybialek, our administrative assistant, at Andrea.Rybialek@kirkwoodschools.org. You may view the newsletter as well, by clicking here. Your next newsletter will come on the 18th and will tell you your homeroom information and additional details for your Open House that evening.
Please reach out at any time to share any questions, concerns, or ideas. I am here to help and support you and your family. Thanks for all you do to help keep our students and staff safe.
Take Care-
Angeline

Update on KSD Health and Safety Protocols for 2021-22 School Year
Last week, the District shared updated health and safety protocols to ensure our classrooms are as safe as possible while maximizing opportunities for in-person instruction. We’re now able to share updated guidance on contact tracing and quarantine requirements, which is based on instructions from the St. Louis County Health Department. Since masks are required in Kirkwood Schools, this updated guidance will reduce the need for students to quarantine and miss school.
The district will follow the chart below for student quarantine procedures. Our goal continues to be providing in-person instruction as safely as possible.
For students, quarantine will not be required when masks are worn properly, there has been at least three feet of social distancing in effect and respiratory symptoms are not present in the COVID-19 positive individual. Quarantine may vary based on length of exposure and direction of the St. Louis County Health Department.
In the case that a student is a close contact to a positive case, the school will immediately communicate via phone call, text, and email with close contacts of a positive or presumed-positive case. When contacted, close contacts will receive information on what actions to take depending on the most current guidance and the specific situation.
For all teachers and staff, people who have been in close contact with someone who has COVID-19 will be required to quarantine. However, the following people with recent exposure may NOT need to quarantine:
People who have been fully vaccinated
People who were previously diagnosed with COVID-19 within the last three months
During the school year, the COVID Dashboard will provide information about positive cases in the District. It will launch with regularly updated information by the start of the first day of school on Aug. 24, 2021.
For frequently asked questions about the health and safety protocols in Kirkwood Schools, visit our FAQs for Staff page on our website.

First Day of School Photo Op at Robinson
You are probably learning that I love to take photos to commemorate all the special occasions at Robinson and then use them to decorate the halls and celebrate our students and staff. We will have a First Day of School 2021 yard sign in our field on August 23rd and August 24th. Families are welcome to come by the building on the 23rd to take individual student or family pictures with the sign. On our first day of school, we will take a class picture with the sign. We will email the class picture to all families at the end of the day. We can't wait to welcome all our Roadrunners back to school!

If you're willing and able, please send in variety packs of K cups, teas included too!
Send with your child, drop off in the office, or bring in to Open House Night next week!!
Our Roadrunners have been READING!!!!
Many other students also participated in this challenge at the library! Congrats to everyone for your reading achievements!

21-22 iPad information
Students will not be taking iPads home this year unless they are needed for a specific project. If a student were to be quarantined, the student would take it home or the parent would come to school to get it.
The Kirkwood School District uses My School Bucks for iPad insurance fees, and activity fees, as well as the iPad user agreement.
If you currently have a My School Bucks account, you can log in and access the school store at the top of the page.
If you do not have a My School Bucks account, you may create a free account. You will need each student’s identification number to create accounts.
To pay for iPad insurance and activity fees through your MySchoolBucks.com account:
- Log in to MySchoolBucks.com or create a free account.
- Click School Store at the top of the page and select Browse All Items
- Choose the Store Item and add it to your cart
- Check out!
You can also download the MySchoolBucks" app to set up an account and make payments.
Please reach out to our technology specialist, Shelley Armstrong with any questions.
2021-2022 Robinson Family Handbook
Please check out the 2021-2022 Robinson Family Handbook. In this handbook you will find arrival and dismissal information, breakfast and lunch procedures, visitor information and much more. If you don't have time to read the full document- you can watch this short clip of the Handbook Highlights (5 minutes). Thank you for your attention to this important document!
Free & Reduced Lunch Information
Although meals will be free to all children again this year; filling out and qualifying for free/reduced meals has the additional benefit of extending reduced costs for iPad/computer insurance and exam costs. In addition, because we are a Title I building based on the number of students qualifying for this program we as a building get additional funding. Currently we use this funding to provide a second counselor and Literacy Coach as well as additional programs and supplies for students. We will be providing these forms in paper copies at Open House and you may complete them ahead of time via this link: https://www.kirkwoodschools.org/Page/843
If you need confidential assistance with this process, please reach out to Mrs. Tonya Ampey-Elong, on school social worker.
Thanks!
