School's Out!

Big picture

What are you doing this summer?

Whatever you are planning for your children's summer holidays this year - leisurely days at home in Hong Kong, busy summer camps, overseas trips - there will be times when you are looking for things for them to do. Of course it would be wonderful if they picked up a book to entertain themselves, but let's be honest, while some children cannot be dragged away from a book, others cannot be dragged TO one. If you haven't managed to ignite that passion in your child yet, don't give up! Sometimes it takes just finding the right book...

To help you in your mission, here are links to some of the most popular picture books, fiction and non-fiction for children. These can be bought online if you can't find them in book shops (Book Depository delivers to Hong Kong for free) or in a local library. Many are also in our Peak School e-book collection which can be found here and accessed 24 hours a day from wherever you are in the world (use the Planet Peak username and the password is "ebook").

Have a wonderful summer!

Please, please, please look for library books at home!

It's that time of year again......when everyone at Peak School starts to avoid the librarians who prowl the corridors looking for library books!

Our mission is to find every missing book in the school and at home so that we can start the new school year with a fully stocked library for the children to enjoy. Please would you search your shelves for library books (look for the yellow Peak School barcode on the front of the book) even if you think you don't have any. Children often make mistakes with their borrowing and books end up at home that are not on their account.

A huge thanks from us for popping all books into the children's school bags so that they can make their way back to the library - there will be no comment made about how overdue the books may be, we will just be glad to have them back!

Check out our library report for 2018/19 below...who will be the first class to return all their books?!

Goodbye Mrs Campbell

It was with great sadness that we had to say goodbye to Mrs Campbell, who left before the end of term to start her new job. The children gave her a lovely Peak School send off, with a very special card from year one. We wish her all the very best in her new position.

As you know, Mrs Rodwell is also leaving at the end of term and we look forward to welcoming our new Librarian, Mrs Rigden-Green, next year who will bring new ideas and energy to take our wonderful library into its next phase. We are so lucky that Mrs Chan will be here to help Mrs Rigden-Green to feel welcome at Peak School and to support her in her new role.

Budding authors at Peak

Aria in year 1 has written several books which she presented to us in the library and they are now catalogued and on the shelves!
Cody in Year 1 has also written a book about our earth that has been added to our Picture Book collection this week. Great job Cody!

Are there any other budding authors out there who would like to see their work on our shelves?

Books to Uganda - update

We ended up with 14 boxes of old library books and unused exercise books that were dispatched to schools and community centres in Uganda. How wonderful to know that our Peak School books will be enjoyed and valued so much on the other side of the world.

Thought for the month...
