Our Vision
Dear Families,
The range of emotions I saw in our incoming students brought me back to my own 6th grade orientation as an 11-year-old growing up in Connecticut. In addition to excitement, I noticed a whole lot of anxiety and even some tears. While it's exciting to set up your locker and figure out where your friends are, for many, it's hard not to ignore the butterflies in your stomach as you wonder:
- What if my locker gets jammed and I can't get my notebook for class?
- What if I can't remember how to find my math classroom?
- What if I forget my locker combination?
Please assure your sons and daughters they are not alone! Two thirds of our student body is preparing for their first day as a middle school student. These questions are most likely going through their heads... Please tell them everything is going to be fine! Our teachers and staff are extremely friendly and will help our students out.
Thank you again for showing up to Open House this week and helping your kids get ready for the first day of school. I hope they are as excited as we are!

First Day of School
Friday, August 17th - first day for 8th graders. All three grades will be on a normal bell schedule, but the 8th grade will go to the auditorium at the end of the day for an abridged version of the assembly during Access. We would like our BRAND NEW 8th GRADERS to attend Tutor Time at 7:50 in Ms. Cahill's room (first door on the left down the main hallway) so that they can have a brief orientation before school begins.
** If you have a 6th or 7th grader who is on a special schedule because they are an athlete, we encourage you to make an effort to come to the entire first day of school so they can receive all the Orientation information. If they can't make it for the whole day, please let our front office know so we can make sure to give them all the information they miss.
Achievement Time on Wednesdays (2:25 pm - 3:25 pm)
Achievement Time will be held in our cafeteria every Wednesday afternoon after school lets out. The only students who need to attend Achievement Time will be those who have a D or an F in one or more of their classes. We will run the D/F list every Thursday morning, and counselors will notify all students on the list as well as their family before the end of the day. Students then have until Tuesday afternoon during Access to improve their grade(s) to a C or better, but if they still have a D or an F, they need to be here for Achievement Time on Wednesday. If your student has successfully improved their grade, you will hear from us on Tuesday afternoon that they are excused from Achievement Time that week. Students who fail to attend an Achievement Time they have been assigned will be expected in detention after school the following Tuesday as well as Achievement Time the following Wednesday.

Where Can Your Student Go at 7:50 am?
School starts at 8:25, but please don't show up at 8:24! Allow yourself time to get here early, do some studying, visit with friends, or simply take a deep breath. Beginning at 7:50, there are three options for your student:
- They can go to the Library to study quietly.
- They can go to the Cafeteria to hang out with friends.
- They can attend Tutor Times (offered by the following teachers in their own classrooms each day of the week):
- Monday - Electives
- Tuesday - English
- Wednesday - Social Studies
- Thursday - Science
- Friday– Math
