The Tex Hill Girl’s and Boy’s Athletic Program is sponsoring a school wide “Pink Out” day on October 25th for football and October 27th for volleyball in support of the Side-Out Foundation for cancer research. We would like everyone to buy a “Pink Out” shirt for $12.00 from the girls coaches and wear it on October 25th and October 27th to school. Please also wear the shirt to the football and volleyball games as we try to “Pink Out” the field and the gym!!
All monies raised by the Tex Hill Tigers goes directly to Side-Out, which in turn awards grants to medical research organizations and entities dedicated to providing compassionate support to breast cancer patients and their families.

Please Support our Honor Flight World War II Veterans
HONOR FLIGHT
By Rebecca Engle (8th grade)
The Tex Hill Student Council is gearing up for their second annual fundraiser in support of the Honor Flight Network through The Honor Flight San Antonio de Valero. The fundraiser will run October 11 through November 11 with the goal of raising the $1400, the cost of sending one soldier on a flight. The money collected will be used to sponsor a WWII Veteran. It will pay for the visit to Washington D.C. and the memorials dedicated to honor his/her service and sacrifice. All donations are accepted, from spare change offered by student to larger donations from parents, staff and the public. Any checks should be made payable to Tex Hill Middle School. The fundraiser will close with a Veterans Day Celebration on November 11 where the students will hold a dinner honoring the veterans working with the program and announce the name of the selected 2016 Honor Flight recipient. This is a not only great service opportunity; it is a unique learning experience. Students are able to meet with Veterans, listen to their stories and learn about their experiences as service members first hand. If you would like to support the program or learn more about how you can help, visit www.honorflightsanantonio.org or email Mrs. Kickhoefer (Student Council Sponsor) at Lkickh@neisd.net.Social Media Concerns
Recently, there has been a social media phenomena spreading across the country of clowns making threats to children or against schools using social media such as Instagram and Snap Chat. None of these threats have been deemed credible. The videos are gross and threatening. It has come to my attention that several of our students are following these clowns or allowing the clowns to follow them on social media. My suggestions to all parents are as followed:
Do not allow your child on social media where members may remain anonymous, such as Instagram and Snap Chat.
If you allow your children to use social media, monitor their use regularly. Monitor who they are following and who is following them. Pay close attention to the content in the chat rooms they may enter. Make sure all of their privacy settings are turned on. Please know that privacy settings on social media does not guarantee privacy.
Also, please know that any student using social media, whether during school or away from school, are subject to disciplinary action if their use of social media is intended to cause a disruption in the school.
Water Bottles and Cell Phones
This past week I met with all students regarding current misuses of water bottles and cell phones. I reminded them that these are privileges which can be removed if misuse continues. Please assist us in keeping these privileges by reminding your child(ern) of the following:
WATER BOTTLES
Water bottles are a privilege we are allowing this year. Students may not flip, spin, play, or make noise with them. This includes in the halls, classrooms, gym, and cafeteria.
CELL PHONES
May only be on and used freely before school and after school
May be used in the classroom / gym / Learning Commons for instructional purposes only and with teacher approval. May not be used in these areas during free time or as a reward.
May not be used during passing periods. Must be put away and off.
Headphones for electronic devices should not be used during passing periods.
During the school day cell phones may not be used for communication such as texting, Instagram, Snap Chat, etc.
During lunch they may be used to listen to music (with headphones), to play games, or complete online assignments. They may not be used for communication or taking pictures.
Thank you!
