Self-Reflect
1. Do you have 120 minutes for reading? (is it dedicated to reading?)
2. Do you have 90 minutes of math?
3. Are you encouraging and increasing student to student interaction? Holding students accountable to speak in complete sentences?
4. Are students increasing their ability to formulate complete sentences?
5. Grades 2-5: Are you considering text complexity and increasing rigor in reading expectations?
6. Are you increasing vocabulary instruction and exposure?
**I SEE TONS OF EXAMPLES OF THESE THINGS AS I GO THROUGH THE CLASSROOMS. THANKS FOR BEING INTENTIONAL IN MAKING SURE THESE THING ARE PRESENT.
Curriculum "WOW's" in the Building
- Wonderful costumes to excite children about reading! LOVE!
- Mrs. Sweet--love the student reading to the class and asking for predictions! What a great way to have strong readers model and share while sharing books that may motivate all students.
- Mrs. Durmire your ability to model thinking for students in math is very powerful. You utilize think aloud and question them to think beyond the numbers to the steps and strategies! Great use of modeling and questioning!
- Mrs. Stocks--a room full of parents, sugar and fun--you smiled and showed what class management is all about! Awesome interaction with students and parents.
- Impressed with the preparation you put into conferences and Tier paperwork. Informing our parents and making them part of the TEAM is so important! Thanks for what you do!
- 2nd Grade successful planning! Thanks for the time you put in making sure your standards are being covered!
- EC planning--loved hearing you talk about your students and their learning.
- 3-5 great job with Benchmarks! Everyone in building being flexible and helping--assistants, Mrs. Lingle, Mrs. Martin, Sandra Miller, Mrs. Little, etc. THANK YOU SO MUCH!
A quick note of thanks for all you do each day. I know this week was long and again you feel WEARY! Please know I appreciate you and so do the students. They are lucky to have you and your dedication! Love you guys!
I know you have seen this but I feel it is appropriate for us right now! You each are making a difference AND have the power to transform!
Planning Days
Please make sure the following happen:
Look at ELA standards (check sheet) and mark off what has been taught. Make a long range ELA plan for the next 9 weeks. All Reading informational and literature as well as language standards should have been directly taught at least once by the end of the first semester. This does not mean to mastery but definitely touched on and modeled. ELA standards spiral. What skills need to be taught for the nine weeks and lay out a rough sketch of a plan. (I will make sure you have an ELA curriculum check off sheet)
Review your intervention plan to make sure all students needs are being served. Interventions HAVE to be outside the core instruction which makes that 120 minutes vital.
