The Countdown Has Begun
Upper Campus Teachers,
First of all, thank you all for a smooth January. Shout out to everyone for getting your report cards in on time. We are in the final stretch. This year is going to move really fast.
We have begun the master schedule for 2019-2020. The Pathway/Academy directors are in the process for selecting students for next year. If you are not part of an Academy/Pathway and would like to be please send me an email.
Students will be selecting classes starting Jan. 31st-Feb 22nd.
If you would like to request a change in your teacher assignment or classroom. Please send me an email ASAP. All requests must be approved by Ms. Morrison and reviewed by the Faculty Advisory Committee.
Last, an Oakland Tech student was in an accident while riding his bike on Broadway Terrace. There were no major injuries. He was not a FADA student and was on his way to the main campus. Please remind your students to be careful while walking and riding their bikes, skateboards, and scooters between the two campus' and teachers be careful when leaving or driving around the two campus'.
WASC: Feb. 2-5
Make sure your classes are clean and well organized. Please let Jason know if you need your classes mopped or need repairs. Please make sure you are teaching an engaging lesson. No videos, games, quizzes. WASC want to see teachers teaching.
WASC will not interrupt your lessons to talk with you. If they have questions for you, WASC will ask you to come to the main campus and a sub will release you. If you are not familiar with our school site goals, please read our action plan. They will ask you questions about it.

Arrival and Departure Time
The appropriate arrival and departure of teachers is a professional responsibility. The length of the regular workday for certificated staff members is 7.5 hours per day, inclusive of a 30-minute lunch. All teachers are expected to observe contractual obligations as they pertain to working hours and the school policy. Because there are multiple starting and ending times for students and teachers, the following contractual hours will be observed:
Teachers with “0” period 6:55 a.m.—2:35 p.m.
Teachers with periods 1-6 7:55 a.m.—3:35 p.m.
Teachers with first-period prep must still adhere to contractual obligations.
Attendance
Within the first 15 minutes of each class period, it is required that attendance is taken in all classes. Failure to do so will render an inaccurate count of students, thereby affecting ADA reimbursed to the district.
The Attendance Office is required to send an official report to the district twice a day with the names of teachers that have not completed their attendance, and your name will show up on the report as an audit finding. OUSD is obligated to pay the state for any attendance audit findings regarding student attendance.
Please complete your attendance during the first 15 minutes of each class period. If you need assistance, please contact Ms. Jimenez at the main campus 510-450-5400 Ext. 154
Teachers who do not have access to AERIES.NET, please see Ms. Sudduth or Ms. Bryan for paper rosters.
Upper Campus Cell Phone Policy
Cell phones should not be on during class time. Please ask students to turn off or silence cell phones before entering the class.
Students need to put all cell phones and earbuds away. Cell phones should be out of sight and stored in their pocket or backpacks. Do not leave them on the desk.
Oakland Tech is not responsible for lost or stolen cell phones.
If you choose to let students use their cell phones, students must turn off OUSD WiFi while at school. The overwhelming amount of cell phone usage is causing technical issues on the Oakland Tech campuses. Please encourage them to use their own cellular data.
