The students in the high school's Business Math class competed in the annual Stock Market Game. Under the tutelage of teachers Todd Battle and Nick Frechette, Red Jacket teams competed against other schools from the New York State and New York City regions. To say they did an amazing job might very well be an understatement!
Competing against 463 other schools from across the State, four of the Red Jacket teams that entered the competition finished in the top 30.
...and then there was the team consisting of Daniel Colasurdo, Austin LeGault, and Caleob Miles, known as Team CAD.
These three students managed to finish the three-month game with more than $130,000 -- yielding a 30% return on their designated investments. This spectacular financial feat garnered them 1st place.
You read that right: that's 1st place throughout the entire region!
According to Mr. Frechette and Mr. Battle, The National Stock Market Game Competition provides an array of valuable educational experiences. By competing, students gained a fundamental understanding of investing. Most importantly, the Stock Market Game helps to develop positive financial habits and prepares our students for the future.
Congratulations to Caleob, Austin, and Dan! And a special thank you to Mr. Battle and Mr. Frechette for their dedication to the success of our students.
