January 2019

From the Principal

Happy New Year! It was so good to welcome all of our friends back at school on Thursday. I saw a lot of smiles and hugs being exchanged. We are back in the swing of learning and looking forward to what the second half of the year brings.

January and February are no longer slow and sleepy months. We have many things happening at Adams with several opportunities for you to become involved or participate.

FTCSC is conducting professional development for all K – 5 teachers on Jan. 8, 9, and 10. As a result of this awesome opportunity we are in need of some additional assistance for supervision in our cafeteria during lunch on those three days. Our first lunch begins at 11:00 AM and our last lunch ends at 1:15 PM. If you have 30-45 minutes that you are willing to volunteer on one of those days please visit our Facebook page or call Adams at 317.862.2065. If you can open ketchup packets and milk cartons you are qualified! Please let us know ahead of time so we can plan accordingly. Thank you!

On Tuesday, Jan. 15, students will enjoy a convocation titled “Ned’s Kindness Adventure”. The theme of the message will encourage children to choose kindness, respect, and acceptance and will be delivered through storytelling, music, interactive videos, and audience participation. More information will be sent home with students next week. In the days following the convocation students will have the opportunity to purchase beaded and carved jewelry and other hand-crafted items made by artisans in Kenya. We look forward to this opportunity.

On Friday, Jan. 25, PTS is sponsoring a magic show and silent auction. The magician is nationally known Caleb Wiles. We are very fortunate to have him sharing his talents with us that evening. Tickets are only $10 per family! Prior to the show there will be a silent auction with several different baskets and items available for purchase to the highest bidders. Look for info to come home soon with students as well as on our Facebook page.

The last week of January will be College Week at Adams. More information will be sent home later in the month.

Two dates that are important in addition to the ones listed above are Jan. 15th and Jan. 21st.

  • January 15th is our next PTS meeting at 7:00 PM in the media center at Adams Elementary. We would love to have you join us. We will begin talking about and planning events in January – May. There are many ways to become involved that do not require your presence during a workday.

  • January 21st school will be closed in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. We will reopen on Tuesday, January 22nd.

Here’s to a great 2019!
