Best Way to Contact Us...
The school is closed due to Governor's orders, so we do not have regular hours. However, there are multiple ways to reach us: Parent Texting Program, Facebook Messenger or email (info@academyadventuresmidtown.com).
**If you have any school related questions or are unable to reach your child's teacher, please contact Mrs. Campbell at 520-342-6883 for assistance between the hours of 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM (Monday-Friday).**
Campbell's Corner
Hello from all the staff. We miss you all very much! We hope that you and your loved ones continue to do well in these uncertain times.
Teachers continue to make packets which are available for pickup every Monday from 7:30 AM – 12:00 PM. There is staff at the school every day so if you are unable to come in on Monday please let us know and we can often make arrangements for an alternative day/time.
Teachers have set up schedules on ZOOM so they can have “face-to-face” lessons and students can interact with each other. These meetings are important for students to attend so they can receive the academic help they need, but also, so they can see their classmates and have some social interaction.
We continue to utilize several ways to communicate with our families. We are using our texting program, our Facebook page, email, and the teachers have a school-issued cell phone. Mrs. Gilbert can be reached at 520-240-3771 or mmycek@academyadventuresmidtown.com. Mrs. Record can be reached at 520-488-6017 or lrecord@academyadventuresmidtown.com. Mrs. Campbell can be reached at 520-342-6883 or pcampbell@academyadventuresmidtown.com.
Please use the texting program or email the school at info@academyadventuresmidtown.com if you have questions and to ensure that we have the most current contact information for you.
Thank you everyone for your continued support and remember, we are still enrolling for the 2020-2021 school year. Please make sure to return your re-enrollment form. We are accepting new students as well, so please pass on the word! We are trying to increase community awareness of our school and increase our enrollment for next year. Please forward this newsletter to everyone you know. Share with them what an amazing school we have!
Remember, even though the building is closed, SCHOOL IS STILL IN SESSION!!!
Take care and stay safe!

-Tuesday: 10:30 a.m. // 6:00 p.m.
-Wednesday: 10:30 a.m. // 6:00 p.m.

Information to log on will be sent prior via email. Please have your students attempt to log on at least three times a week. If you have concerns about access to ZOOM, please let me know as soon as possible and Academy Adventures Midtown Administration will be more than willing to accommodate and assist where needed!
As a school, we continue to send packets home WEEKLY. These packets will be set up with a daily schedule to ensure we are keeping as much of a schedule as we can. You will see various subjects set up throughout each day. Routines are imperative in times like this.
Communication is a valuable tool! If you have any questions, concerns or feedback, please do not hesitate to contact the school! However we can meet the need of your student, we will work as a community to ensure academics remain a priority.
I miss the daily classroom with all my heart and am beyond proud to continue to support your student!
2nd & 3rd Grade Class
Thank you for your support over the past few weeks picking up packets and working with your children. I know many of you are still employed and the extra work load can be tremendous. I appreciate all your help and effort!
There have been some changes to the weekly packets. Students are now required to email me, or call me, each day with the answer to the days exit ticket questions located on the bottom of the daily schedule. This will enable us to know how your child is doing with the work, if they need additional assistance and if the standards are being met.
Thank you to those who have returned the completed work packets. Please do your best to return the completed work packets and drop them off on Monday, when you pick up the new packets. Thank you again for your support!
I really miss the students!! I have enjoyed working with the students online. Although working online presents a challenge, I have enjoyed seeing the students and the interaction with them and with their peers. Thank you to the families who have regularly helped your child to connect online for our Zoom classes. I continue to look forward to seeing the students online for the next few weeks.
Happy last few weeks of school!
4th & 5th Grade Class
On April 20, I emailed the login information for the online programs that we have been using in the classroom this year. These sites are a great way for your child to practice the skills that we have been working on. I included 2 sites that I have just started using, Eduflow and SpellingCity. The weekly packets are available on Eduflow and SpellingCity has activities to complete using a given list of spelling words.
In CKLA, the Lions will finish the unit on Islamic Empires in the Middle Ages and begin learning about geology. Geology is the study of the makeup of the earth and the processes that shape and change it. We will also learn about the observations that scientists have made that provide the evidence of the changes on Earth’s surfaces. We will learn about the Earth’s layers, plate tectonics, and features such as mid-ocean ridges, ocean trenches, earthquakes, tsunamis, and volcanoes. The Tigers will complete the unit on contemporary fiction and move into The Adventures of Don Quixote. They will learn about being a knight during the Middle Ages, how Don Quixote becomes a knight and the adventures he has on his travels.
In GoMath, the Lions will complete the unit on dividing by 1-digit numbers and begin working with fractions. Make sure you have your fraction circles! The Tigers will finish their unit on dividing decimals and start working on adding and subtracting fractions. Think about the steps that we covered in division in previous units. It will come in handy!
Thank you to all of my families for helping your child, not only with their schoolwork, which trust me, I know it is not easy, but also for the support you give the school. Thank you to all of my students for being the wonderful, amazing students that you are. I miss seeing all of you and your bright, smiling faces. I miss working with you and helping you with the challenges that you face, with your schoolwork or personally. I want you all to know, parents and students alike, that I am truly fortunate to be a part of your life.
We Love & Miss Our Students!
It is hard to believe that it has been over a month since we started Distance Learning and almost 2 months since we had students in the school building. In one sense, this time has flown by and in another, it seems endless.
As a reminder, although the building is closed, school is STILL in session until May 21, 2020. Children are still expected to pick up weekly packets, complete their work and participate in the Zoom classes weekly. It is very important that the students have a schedule and a dedicated space to do their work. We do not want to see any child fall behind during this time.
A special thank you parents and guardians for the exceptional job you are doing! No one planned for this and it was kind of thrown at us, but everyone has stepped up! Thank you for picking up your children's packets weekly and for helping your children attend Zoom "classes".
Thank you to each of our teachers who have been spending endless hours researching distance learning, learning new programs to administer lessons, creating packets and planning Zoom lessons. Their dedication to ensure that your child continues to excel and at the same time feel connected to the school is phenomenal!
Remember that you can always contact your child's teacher via email or their school assigned cell phone if you have questions or your child simply wants to just say hi to their teacher! The teachers love to hear from you and your child. It has been a hard transition for the teachers not being able to see their students. You can also reach out via the Parent Texting program, FB Messanger and/or email (info@academyadventuresmidtown.com). We are here to help you in anyway we can.
Continue to be safe and stay healthy!
ZOOM CLASSES
It is very important that your child attends the Zoom Classes weekly. Each teacher has at least 3 days they do classes. Not only is it important for the instruction, but also important for the children to connect with their teachers and their friends.
If Zoom times do not work, please be sure that you contact your child's teacher to see if an alternative time could be set up.

School Improvement Plan
Academy Adventures Midtown is continuing to work hard on the School Improvement Plan to ensure we continue to meet all the requirements from the state! With all State Assessments (AzM2 & AIMS Science) being cancelled this year, our grade will remain the same and we will not be able to improve it for next year. It is frustrating because we know how hard the students worked this year.
If you have any questions regarding school improvement, please speak with Mrs. Campbell or Mrs. Angela.
DON'T FORGET TO THANK YOUR TEACHER!
