Vice President Andrew Lie acknowledged World Teachers' Day and thanked all District staff. He noted that he'll continue to be an advocate for the District and find creative solutions to support those he serves. He, too, is thrilled to see Jefferson High School offer a new variety of courses to their students and gave kudos to all involved in this planning process.
Clerk Carla Ng-Garrett thanked the District staff for providing the best possible supports to our students. She also noted how excited she was to see positive changes taking place to the monthly cafeteria menu and felt the concerns of Student Advisory Council trustees had been heard.
Trustee Nick Occhipinti was glad that new vaccinations are being offered to help curtail the spread of COVID. He thanked community members for attending the September 27th Daly City council meeting and encouraged everyone to continue sharing their voice with their thoughts on urban planning, sustainability, and climate change.
Trustee Kalimah Salahuddin and President Tejada met with the Student Advisory Council Monday evening and stated how wonderful it's been to meet with them in person with stronger connections taking place. She shared her gratitude for JUHSD's educational staff, especially this past year of distance learning. She also thanked Associate Superintendent of Business Services, Tina Van Raaphorst, for all of her work in continuing to move forward with the Serramonte del Rey development process .

Student Trustees Share Out!
Trustee Huazano shared that Terra Nova's club fair went very well and that underclassmen really seemed to enjoy this high school event; an event they had yet to experience. Also, she shared that site academic counselor started meeting with Seniors to assist in mapping out the rest of their high school career, along with post high school plans. She also mentioned that students taking SamTrams are concerned with overcrowding issues.
Trustee Abuzahriyeh announced that today was World Teachers' Day with Westmoor's student government class writing thank you letters to their teachers and distributing those to them throughout the day.
During the start of each board meeting, it's always a treat to hear our Student Trustees eloquently share site updates, and concerns, with the school Board of Trustees and Executive Cabinet. At the October 19th, we look forward to hearing our Student Trustees share new campus updates, questions, comments, and concerns related to their JUHSD school sites.
