Dear Inlet View Parents, Guardians, and Students
Last Friday, the ASD Superintendent, Dr. Bishop sent out the mid-month update to all families. Her communication referenced a few topics including Visit Our Schools, usually done in the month of February, the acknowledgement that there might be a shortage of ASD staff the week after Spring Break. Here's a direct quote from her message.
"We recognize that a number of staff and students intend to travel out of state during the break, and it remains to be seen where the State and Municipality will be in mid-March with regards to COVID-related quarantines or isolations. In that context, it is possible that in-school education could be impacted due to inadequate staffing immediately following spring break. Should we experience unplanned closure days due to inadequate staffing, we will communicate closely with you. I want to be up front with our staff and parents about the possibility of additional Zoom learning days or changes to the school calendar."
Based on the above information, things are yet to be determine. I'll do my best to communicate with you as soon as the information is available to me.
A second topic is the upcoming Visit Our Schools Sessions (Feb 25th and March 4th).
We will have two virtual sessions for families interested in joining the school family.
Here is the zoom information for each session. Please help us spread the word among community friends and families with school aged children. The Feb 25th session will be repeated on Thursday March 4th. Both sessions will start right at 6:00 PM
Skate a Thon Pledges went home today! Please check your child's backpack and start collecting pledges. We're trying to make this event fun and engaging for students and families. We want to thank you in advance for your continuous support.
Last but not least, remember Friday February 26th is a asynchronous day. Teachers will be attending a district wide training on the new adopted Math Curriculum. There will be no -in person classes that day.

2021 School Climate and Connectedness Survey ©
Dear Parent or Guardian,
The Anchorage School District is partnering with the Association of Alaska School Boards to conduct the School Climate and Connectedness Survey ©, a statewide survey taken by students, staff, and families. This survey measures their perceptions of each school’s climate including the engagement of students, staff, and families.
The Student Survey will be given to students in grades 3-6 grades at Inlet View Elementary during the week(s) of Feb 22 to March 26 Students will complete the survey online during the school day.
The student survey will ask questions such as how students feel about school rules, their perceptions of how students treat each other, their relationships with staff, social and emotional skills, and observed risk behaviors of other students at school and school events. There are different surveys for younger students (grades 3-5) and older students (grades 6-12).
Family Survey: We also value input from our families. You are an important partner as we work to continually improve each school’s environment. Each parent/guardian is asked to complete one survey during Feb 22 to March 26 If you have more than one child attending this school, you only need to fill out one survey.
You can take the survey HERE . Look for Inlet View School.
All of these surveys are voluntary, anonymous, confidential, and do not ask questions about students’ families. If you do not wish for your child to participate, please notify the school in writing by February 22 or earlier
Results from this survey will be used to identify student, staff and family perceptions of school climate issues within our school(s). School staff use the results to inform their efforts to ensure schools are safe, supportive, and caring places for all students.
Thank you for your cooperation in this year’s School Climate and Connectedness Survey©.
