CCA Chapel
This summer a mission team headed up by Kevin and Kelly Griffey from First Baptist Church of Clinton went to Jamaica. Three of our students, Kennedy V, Audrey F, and Clara H, were a part of the team. A slideshow of their week there was shown, which featured the places they visited. The girls told us about specific things that really touched their hearts while there; the trip was a real and emotional experience for them. Clara talked about a boy at the Blossom Gardens orphanage, Audrey talked about the kids and adults at West Haven special needs facility and Kennedy talked about the girls at Granville Place of Safety Girls Shelter.
At the end they answered questions from the crowd and students sang the school song.

Fall Volleyball & Soccer Game Recaps
Volleyball Senior Night:
Last Monday, the 16th of October, the Lady Patriots played against Metro Academy.
JV played a shortened game to 25 points and won. CCA then honored the only Volleyball Senior, Priscilla. She was escorted by her parents and was given some presents from her teammates. The team made a poster board to commemorate all her years here at CCA. She has been playing volleyball for six years and has made some great memories along the way. Then, the Varsity team played. The Patriots were off to a good start and won the first set. Metro took the second set forcing the game into a third set. The Patriots team lost the third set in a close effort, 22-25. It was a hard fought game and the ladies played with great sportsmanship. Our senior will be missed next year, but we wish her the best of luck in all her future endeavors.
MOKAN Soccer:
Last Monday, the Soccer team traveled to Independence to play the first game of the MOKAN
tournament. They played against the Heartland Mustangs. The entire game was intense and by the time the clock had run out, they were tied. The game went into overtime and then ended in a shoot-out. The Patriots lost in the shoot-out. The game didn’t end how we wanted it to, but the entire team put forth their best effort.
JH MOKAN Volleyball:
The Junior High Volleyball team placed third in the regular season MOKAN Conference
and in the MOKAN Conference Tournament! Great job ladies and coaches! Brynn received first all-team honors and Brooklynn was voted second all-team. Congrats!

Special Class Update: Band
CCA has both a Beginning Band (6th grade) and a Concert Band (7th-12th graders). The
Concert Band has been busy learning many new songs. They will be playing at the pep rally, Veteran’s Day Assembly, the Winter and Spring Concerts, as-well-as compete at the Midwest Academic and Fine Arts Festival hosted by Calvary University in April. The focus for concert band is learning the school song for the Pep Rally on Wednesday, learning how to play the Star Spangled Banner and working through Christmas songs.
Beginning Band has learned their first five notes so far. Students are making progress, and are beginning to understand how to follow the conductor, play together as a class, and stay in rhythm. Beginning Band students will perform at the Christmas Concert on December 14th, and will also play at the Spring Concert in April. --Kennedy
