Hamilton Elementary
Updated Back to School Information - September 6, 2017
Welcome Back!
I am so very ready to have your students at Hamilton and begin our school year and Monday can't come soon enough! This has been a very stressful beginning of the year for many of you, to say the least. Throughout all of the devastation that Harvey has caused, I have also witnessed the kindness of humanity and the importance of community. To all of you who were directly impacted by flooding in your home, I am truly sorry. Please know that we are here to help. If you need school supplies, clothing, or have other needs, please let us know. In addition to the physical needs of our community, I know that many of our students have a story to tell about Harvey... flooding in homes, boat rescues, family or friends that have been displaced, to name a few. Please be sure to reach out to your child's teacher, Mrs. Erickson, our school counselor, or me if you feel that your child will need extra support in the upcoming days. More information on who to contact for help is included below.
This year our staff chose the theme "Hamilton Lions throw kindness around like confetti." I can't think of a more fitting theme as we begin the year. Thank you to our HES staff, PTO volunteers and community members who held a cleaning supply drive, donated supplies and delivered supplies into our community and surrounding communities. We also had a Watch DOGS team that went out and helped remove flooring, drywall and items from homes that were damaged by flooding. In addition to the help from our own Lions community, I heard of families and staff organizing meal trains, volunteering at local shelters and collection places, washing clothes that were in flood water, donating teaching materials to our friends at Moore Elementary, and so, so many more acts of kindness. We are not only #HOUSTONstrong, but #LIONSstrong, too.
I'm looking forward to an amazing year of learning with your Lions,
Mrs. Conn
