D97 News and Information
District Attendance Goals
The Oak Leaves published an article last week about the district's attendance goals and the critical role that we believe regular attendance at school plays in improving student achievement and creating a sense of belonging. Check out the article >
We are currently looking for people to serve as substitute teachers and teaching assistants. Substitute teachers earn $103 per day, while substitute teaching assistants earn $90 for a full day and $45 for a half day. You can access additional information about these positions by visiting http://www.op97.org/hr/substitutes.
We are D97 Campaign to highlight a student or staff member across the district
This year, District 97 is launching a campaign titled "We are D97." As part of this campaign, we plan to profile one student or staff member each month to help highlight the tremendous work being done across the district to advance our vision, achieve our goals, and create a strong sense of community and belonging. These profiles will be posted on our website, included in our weekly email blasts and shared via our social media platforms (Facebook and Twitter). If there is someone you believe should be recognized for their contributions to their school, the district or the community, please use the brief form found at http://bit.ly/2NE0M6G to nominate them for our monthly profile feature.
Support4U
In May, districts 97, 90 and 200 partnered together to launch a new mental health-related prevention and support resource for middle and high school students called Support4U. Students can use this text-based resource 24 hours a day to connect with licensed mental health clinicians who can provide them with assistance or guidance on a variety of issues that include, but are not limited to, anxiety, depression, substance use, suicidal ideation, eating disorders, bullying and abuse.
During the past few weeks, we have been working with leaders from all three districts, as well as representatives from the Community Mental Health Board and NAMI Metro Suburban, to create a video that will help introduce or reintroduce this critical resource to students, families and community members. You can access the video by visiting https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yeU9lBiq12U.
GBMS Library/Media Center
Library is also open during each lunch periods. Students need to request a pass from a teacher BEFORE their lunch.
