School Closure Update
Dear Everyone in Our School Family
It has been wonderful over the last few weeks to see how communities are supporting one another, particularly the critical workers, such as our fantastic NHS or our fabulous care workers, who continue in their key roles. I have been particularly touched by the way the children have responded and shown great positivity and hope at this time.
At school we are very aware that it is a time of anxiety and sadness for many families who have been affected by this disease. I send on our thoughts and prayers to those of you who have been adversely impacted by this horrendous pandemic.
Presently, we have no indication from the government or DfE of when there will be a change to the closure and I do not anticipate it is likely to be soon. When we do get some relevant information, we will, of course, inform you and ensure that careful planning is put in place in line with updated guidance.
A big thank you to parents and carers who are accessing home learning tasks and supporting children with their work. It can be difficult to get the balance right and there are many demands on everyone at this time. All the staff really do appreciate all that you are doing. If you have any concerns or queries or want to share something, please do contact your child's class teacher via email. I know the staff really do enjoy hearing from all our families.
Do be kind to yourselves and remember to prioritise your family's well-being and mental health.
Take care and keep safe.

Friendship
We will be providing focused activities on our worship page about friendship over the next few weeks and would love children to get involved in sharing messages of friendship. If your child would like to record a message, which includes a thought, a greeting or even a joke they can send them to us and we can share them through the school website.
If you would like to record a message of friendship, it needs to be in an MP4 format and should be emailed (or link if appropriate) to jgurney@riponcathedral.n-yorks.sch.uk
Many thanks
BBC Bitesize
This week BBC bitesize created daily learning for each year group. There are daily programmes for each age (primary from 9am) which are a good way to support home learning. Do take the time to check out these resources which I know a number of parents and carers have found really useful.
Worship at Home
We are delighted that the Open the Book team are providing us with short films that continue the focus on the Old Testament Bible stories that they started in the autumn term. The story of Samuel is available now through the following link:

Friends Virtual Duck Race
This year the race will be put on slightly differently due to the current situation.
Lily has been working hard on trying to keep events running as much as they can and she has managed to find a website that does Virtual Duck Races!
So this year we will hold a few races with 20 ducks in each race for 2 minutes long.
You can still pick your duck number and even pick as many ducks as you want for each race.
Good luck everyone, and thanks Lily!
