Buffalo Community Middle School. May 2021
End of Year Academic Catch Up Days:
Due to quarantine situations and other complexities of COVID, we have many students this quarter who need extra time to complete some of the essential learning standards within their classes. We are excited to have this opportunity to meet the needs of all of our students.
Below is information about our BCMS end of the year academic catch up days, that will take place on 6/9 & 6/10 from 8:50am to 3:25pm. Teachers will reach out to you if they think your child should attend one or both of these days. If you feel like your child should attend these days and you are not contacted by a teacher soon, please reach out to one of your child’s teachers.
All “new learning” will end on Tuesday, June 8th.
We will run a regular BCMS daily schedule on Wed.(6/9) and Thurs.(6/10) for students to catch-up in classes.
A Day on Wednesday, B Day on Thursday
During these days students will rotate through their regular school day to catch up on work in each class.
If students have more missing work in some classes than others, the teachers may have students spend extra time in those classes.
Regular bus routes will run on both days, at normal times. So students can follow their normal bus routine.
If your child wants to be picked up early by a parent, that is okay.
If distance learners want to come in, we can also provide transportation, but will need to know these names by this Friday (6/4).
If you have any questions about our BCMS catch up days, please reach out to one of your child’s teachers or the BCMS front desk at 763-682-8200.
Important Dates for Returning School Issued Devices:
May 24th thru June 8th
Anytime between May 24th and June 8th, students who are learning in person, with school issued devices at home, can bring their device with them to school and return it in the Media Center. Students should return the Chromebook, the cord, and the mouse.
June 9th and 10th
Wednesday and Thursday, June 9th and 10th, parents or students can return school issued devices at the front doors of BCMS between the hours of 7:30am-3:30pm. Students should return the Chromebook, the cord, and the mouse. We will have tables set up right outside the front doors under the awning or right inside the front doors.
We appreciate your help in getting all school issued devices returned!
Lockers & Locks
As we near the end of the school year, students can begin working on bringing home all of their extra belongings in their lockers. On the last day of school all students will completely empty out their lockers before 6th hour. Students can save the school locks to use next year.

May 28th - Valleyfair Information for 8th Graders:
On Friday, May 28, 2021, BCMS is celebrating our 8th grade students finishing a very challenging year with a trip to Valleyfair in Shakopee, MN. With only missing last year due to the pandemic, this is the 30th annual 8th grade Valleyfair event.
Plans are to leave the school at 9:00 am and return to BCMS in time for the buses home at 3:25 pm. Remember Food, merchandise, Challenge Park and some games require extra money. Lunch and snacks will be at student’s expense.
Student conduct, expected both at Valleyfair and at school prior to the trip, will be discussed with students.
We look forward to this special day of celebration!
Valleyfair information for distance learners:
1. For students riding the bus to and from Valleyfair - You will need to be dropped off at BCMS between 8:40 and 8:50 am. Please do not enter the school. We will meet you under the awning by the front doors of the school. You will get your ticket on the bus. If you have friends you would like to ride the bus with, please send me an email with the names of the groups and I will do my best.
2. For students driving to Valleyfair separately - We will meet you in front of the ticket booths. Mr. Watkins, Mr. Johnson and Mr. Hermanson will be the ones greeting you and checking you off the list. Once they have checked you off, they will be giving you a ticket to the park, and explaining where the chaperones will be located. Please meet them in front of the Ticket booth at Valleyfair at 9:45 am.
If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know!
I can't wait for the 28th! It's going to be a blast!
