Dynamed Plus

Honors (Korean Donation)

It feels like we just started this trimester and now we're at finals already. We hope you managed to get a head start on your studying during the long weekend. At least we have two weeks of break coming up before it all starts anew.

Speaking of finals, we will be following our regular finals hours and opening early. We will be closing at our regular time for the next two weeks until Dec. 15th when we will begin our break hours. Please check out those hours as well. The library will actually be closed the second week of break.

We've also included reminders about how to use the study rooms, information about our new "Happy Lamps" for those who need some extra light and the upcoming pet therapy event.

Faculty teachers and clinicians should take the time to test out Dynamed Plus while we have a free trial and give us your feedback. We're excited about this new tool.

Finally, NWHSU was honored with the donation of an important text related to Korean medicine. Please take a look at pictures and read up on the Dogui Bogam.

Good luck with finals, everyone!

Study Rooms

Just a reminder...

The library has the acoustics of a cathedral. Conversations held at a "normal voice" level get amplified. This is especially true when more and more people enter the space.

Even though we don't have midterms or finals right now, there is a group of students studying for their boards this week so please be mindful of them.

Study rooms can mitigate some of the noise. They are available to be reserved for two hours per person at a time. Please respect those rules so everyone can get a chance to use the rooms. You can add more than two hours per person as long as there are other rooms available. Rooms 8 and 9 are meant for bigger groups so please do try to leave those open unless you have a bigger group or everything else is taken.

Happy Lamps

Feeling Blue?

Seasonal Affective Disorder getting to you? The library now has "Happy Lamps" available to be checked out in the library for that touch of extra light you may be needing during these winter months.

Dec. 7th, 2017

Student Affairs is partnering with the library and Northstar Therapy Animals to have a pet therapy event on campus. Please stop by and cuddle/meet some local dogs here to help you relieve your stress.

When: Thursday, Dec. 7th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Where: In the foyer right outside the library doors next to the couches and chairs.

Matty (pictured) visited a few years ago and it was a lot of fun so we hope you'll join us again.

Free Trial

According to its publisher, Dynamed Plus is a database that provides accurate, evidence-based information to the busy clinician in order to respond to patient needs.

Discover the latest information on conditions, how they're commonly treated and how your specialty can help.

Please take a moment to try it out and let Anne Mackereth (amackereth@nwhealth.edu) know what you think.

Dogui Bogam a classical text and foundation of Korean Medicine

On Nov. 3, 2017, NWHSU was honored with a visit from several acupuncturists from South Korea and the President of the Minnesota Acupuncture Association, Aaron Schindler, L.Ac.

We were presented with Dogui Bogam, a classical text and foundation of Korean Medicine. The text is located in the reserves section in the library for those who would like to take a look at it.

You can read more about the books here and here.

Please visit the library's Instagram page for pictures and more information.
