MUSTANG MINUTE
SEPTEMBER
SEPTEMBER 12 , 2022
Mustangs,
Fall is certainly upon us and as the leaves begin to change colors we are starting to see our students settle into a school routine. Thank you for working with us as we continue to navigate bus transportation to and from school. I am happy to report that we have three bus routes that are back in service this week to support students. Even given our transportation woes we have seen consistent attendance from students and for that I am thankful for our school community.
The World Discovery Seminar Program held their annual Fall Field Day Field Trip on September 2nd. Students started the morning by electing their student council before jumping into a cross seminar discussing morality and ethics and why it is important to live a moral life. Students and teachers then went to the Eagle River Nature Center for hikes and team bonding. There students had lunch, appreciated nature, and planned their lip sync battle programs, which they performed upon their return to school. It was a great day of inspiring students and building community as we begin the new school year!
Please make sure to be following along with your students academic progress by accessing ParentConnect and the official Q gradebook.
Sincerely,
Megan J. Hatswell

This should take about 10-15 minutes to complete if your student has their senior portrait saved on their device. Seniors must be logged into their ASD Google account in order to access the form. Sweat options range from $13-30 per item. We are happy to offer a variety of garment options this year!
This form is the only way to submit a senior portrait this year. Please do not have photographers or other individuals email or drop off photos for any reason-- they will likely get lost in the shuffle.

Alaska Safe Children’s Act
Chugiak High School will be teaching the Alaska Safe Children’s Act/ Personal Safety. Our teachers will present an age-appropriate lesson about personal body safety in a non-threatening way, along with the skills needed for self-protection. The focus of the lessons will be to empower students with the information and skills to protect themselves and seek help from the physical, psychological and emotional harm that can occur from abusive situations. These lessons are a part of the Anchorage School District’s plan to enact the Alaska Safe Children’s Act and will be handled in a sensitive, respectful manner.
