Please also remember that during morning drop off and afternoon pick up, the exit from the school is a right turn only.

Random Acts of Kindness Week & Food Drive February 18th-21st
During the month of February, we focus on the character trait of kindness. We also celebrate Random Acts of Kindness week! So all students in grades Kinder through 4th had a counseling lesson on Kindness during their library time this month.
The lesson centered on the book I Walk With Vanessa by Kerascoët.
This story is about a simple act of kindness and so much more. Students learned about empathy, courage and how to be an Upstander. Students even helped tell the story by using their observation and inferencing skills to read this picture book. Noticing the characters facial expressions and body language, we discussed the importance of nonverbal communication and "soft skills." So much to learn in this simple story!
I Walk With Vanessa was a great book to introduce our theme for Random Acts of Kindness Week, "Be the I in KIND." We will celebrate RAK week February 18th -21st. During this week, we encourage students to perform simple acts to spread kindness in our school and community.
In addition to spreading kindness, Bush Elementary will be participating in a food drive to support “Matthew’s Birthday Wish”. Matthew Reel is a student in CISD, that currently supports close to 100 families in our school district by providing needed meals. Click here for more information on Matthew’s Birthday Wish. We will be collecting non-perishable items February 18-21. Items may be dropped off in the collection bins located in the Bush Elementary lobby.
“No act of kindness, no matter how small is ever wasted.” - Aesop
Pictured above are the Paws for Pride winners from December 2019. The character trait was Generosity. Congratulations to all!
