Highland High School
2021 Senior Scoop - Edition #1
Message from Mr. Neal
Reese Neal
Hello, Class of 2021!
COVID may have disrupted the regular flow of school and life to the point that not much is "normal" anymore, but the show must go on, and we want you to know that we're here to help you along the way!
Senior Year - Keys to Success
I know these will likely seem oversimplified and obvious to you, but in order to put yourself in the best possible place for success, I cannot stress enough the importance of executing these simple skills with elite discipline...and as consistently as possible throughout your senior year:
Rise and soar by...
- being present -attending classes and actively engaging in learning;
- doing your best - communicating with your teacher, completing your work, and keeping your grades up;
- and leading the way - setting a positive example for underclassmen through your behavior.
Important Resources and Information
In an effort to better support your progress toward graduation and beyond, we have consolidated all of the important resources you will need into this first edition of the seniors-only newsletter. We will send subsequent editions as the year progresses to ensure you stay informed.
There is A LOT here, so please take some time to read through the information here, click on the links, and please reach out to your teachers, counselor, and/or administrator (that's me!) if you have questions.
Thank you,
-Mr. Neal

Valedictorian & Salutatorian Selection Process
Soon after 13.5 week grades have been posted, we will reach out to the top 5% of seniors, notifying these students and their parents of their eligibility to compete for the position of valedictorian or salutatorian. These students will be invited to a December meeting with Mr. Neal, Assistant Principal, and Mr. Valocchi, Department Head of Counseling, to review the Valedictorian/Salutatorian selection criteria and process.

How To Request Transcripts
The following information is the procedure when requesting transcripts:
If you are a current senior, please fill out the Transcript Release Form and return it to the registrar's office.
If you are a former graduate in need of your official transcript to be sent to a University/College you must provide the following information:
- full name when you attended HHS
- complete date of birth
- year you graduated
- the name and address of the University/College
** Processing time is 48 business hours.
Parchment.com is also available to send transcripts. Simply create an account and you can then make requests through their website.
**Parchment.com charges a small fee of $3.95 per official transcript and can be sent out within 24-48 hours electronically.
Please note per GPS policy: In order for a transcript to be considered official, it must be mailed directly to the college or institution. Also, HHS does not have copies of diplomas and cannot create a duplicate. If you need to prove that you have graduated, you can use your transcript. Your date of graduation is shown on the transcript.
