Magnificent Mothers
This week we continued with our wild animal theme and also talked about Mother's Day! In addition to our Mother's Day crafts, we decorated cards, wrote our names with glue and glitter, picked out objects from theraputty, and did various shape puzzles with partners. Ms. Ruth led outside structured activities, including bowling, animal bean bag toss, and stop/go with animal movements. We had fun going grocery shopping, cooking food, and eating together in our dramatic play area with our friends from next door.
We did a wild animal obstacle course during P.E. during which we rolled like a wild pig, jumped like a rabbit, and crawled like a gecko. We also used a horizontal ladder on the ground to practice walking with reciprocal motion, balancing by walking on the rungs of the ladder, and jumping over the rungs. This week in speech rotations, we read From Head to Toe, and followed simple commands involving various body parts (e.g., turned our head like penguins, clapped our hands like seals, etc.). We played wild life bingo, and identified/matched pictures of animals. We also worked on the concepts "big/small" and sang a song about big/small animals, and then identified big/small animals in pictures.
We celebrated a few birthdays this week - happiest of birthdays to Ms. Erin, Ms. Jillian, and Ms. Diana!! On Thursday, we all gathered to release our 10 butterflies outside!
