Challenges in school, family, or social relationships can result in significant emotional distress and difficulties meeting the demands of daily life. When an adolescent is feeling overwhelmed, and lacks effective tools to manage and overcome life stressors, they are more likely to engage in unhealthy and maladaptive behaviors that hinder growth and can be harmful.
See videos below to hear the advice from Dr. Safahieh, Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist and Licensed Marriage Therapist, Valeri Trezise, at Hoag Hospital on how parents can support their children dealing with emotional distress.
Senior Scene
We want to remind you to keep your counselor informed of your post high school plans. We want to provide you with as much support and guidance as possible regarding post-secondary plans before you graduate in May. In effort to understand where you are in the process, please log in to Naviance and update your list of universities/colleges you have applied to (including four year universities, community college, military, or vocational/certificate schools). As you begin to hear from colleges, please update the “result” of your applications (ex. admission, waitlisted, denied).
We ask that you update the list of colleges applied to or will be applying to by January 23, 2019.
In the meantime, here is some important information about upcoming workshops for community colleges.
