Principal Message
Tēnā koutou katoa Witherlea whānau,
It has been lovely seeing more parents in the school grounds over the last couple of weeks. Feel free to pop into classrooms before or after school to connect with your child's teacher and see what they have been up to in class. Remember every Monday we will have a coffee cart onsite from 8.30am followed by a whole school assembly from 9.00-9.30am - it would be lovely to have you along if you are able!
To reduce congestion and improve safety, children who arrive at school before 8.30am can wait for the bell on the top court. At pick up time, we encourage parents to come into the school grounds to meet children rather than wait outside.
Congratulations to our school Jump Jam teams who participated in the inter school competition last weekend. We had three teams enter and took second and third place in the age categories. Many thanks to Richelle, Matt and Dan for coaching the teams.
11 runners competed in the Marlborough Cross Country on Tuesday, all showing outstanding effort and sportsmanship. Congratulations to the following students on their top ten placings:
Year 5 Boys
Freddie H (2nd)
Ryan B (4th)
Year 5 Girls
Christine F (6th)
Year 6 Girls
Ellie M (4th)
This is the last week for the Grocery Grab with all tickets (sold/unsold) needing to be returned to school by this Friday. We have an exciting project we are hoping to use the funds towards which will benefit all children. We really need to give ticket sales a big push this week to achieve our fundraising target. We have a number of amazing prizes for students that include:
Prize Draw 1: All children who have sold their allocated 15x tickets go in the draw for one of 50 spot prizes.
Prize Draw 2: Top ticket seller - 30 second grocery grab
Prize Draw 3: Top ticket seller from each Team get a $50 prezzy card to spend on whatever they like.
Prize Draw 4: Second ticket seller from each Team get a $25 prezzy card to spend on whatever they like.
Prize Draw 5: Top class ticket sales (averaged out based on number of students in class) - Pizza Lunch
The draw for the spot prizes and the announcement of raffle winners will be done at Assembly on Monday 22nd August.
Many thanks to our local community for their generous support with donating prizes and buying tickets.
It was great to see six nominations for the 2022 Board Elections. Candidate statements and voting papers have been circulated by post and we encourage you to get your votes in.
All the best for the week ahead!
Ngā manaakitanga,
Symon Beattie

2022 Netball Helpers and Volunteers THANKS
Many thanks to our Netball 'helpers' and coaches who volunteered this season. Thanks to Mr Hollis, Ms Muir, Mrs McLennan, Mrs Thompson, Mrs McCallum and Mrs Falvey (and to Ms Oberholzer) who looked after our Friday night netballers. Thanks to Ms Keane and Ms Brinsdon who coached our Saturday Year 5 and 6 teams and gave up their time for practices during the week. Without their help, time, enthusiasm and support we would not be able to have our keen Witherlea players represented each week. Many thanks, all of our netballers have had a great season and represented our school applying all of our school values towards each other and the opposition!!
