Blue Bear Notes
Mashburn Elementary
A Note From Mrs. Gravitt
Dear Mashburn Parents,
Thank you is not enough to say how grateful I am for all your support with the BOOSTERTHON- GLOW RUN, students (with your support) raised $24,000 – OUTSTANDING !!!!!!! This will allow us to move to phase 3 of our new playground. Also, thank you all for helping students exceed our goal so Mrs. Swaim, Mrs. Clack and myself could be SLIMED- great experience we will always remember. Your support and collaboration with the school was so wonderful as the atmosphere with the BOOSTERTHON team motivated students, provided a positive atmosphere and built a community working toward one goal and you all were monumental in this, thank you.
Also, thank you so much for working on all the aspects for the morning and afternoon car line which has been going great. Pulling up in the morning to allow more cars to unload and the students are doing a fabulous job going out to the correct color cone, waiting behind the cone and opening the door as soon as the car stops at the cone. Thanks for working with us to improve on car line, it is going great.

To ensure your child can continue to enjoy school meals or to clear your student’s account of any negative balances, please send a payment, (cash or check) to the school, or visit WWW.MyPaymentsPlus.com, to make a payment online. This website is a convenient way to make payments and monitor your child's account balance.
Activity Camps
Our activity camp registration will be open until Monday! If your child is interested, please don’t forget to register for an activity camp. We are excited to announce that the Spanish Club is now open to all grade levels. Children will enjoy a birthday party and a trip to the store all while learning Spanish! Students can join Mrs. Hobbs and create some lasting memories with her Scrapbooking Camp. The Crazy 8s camp is offering a break out room session!! Students will solve math puzzles as a team! STEAM- combines science and art. Creativity and problem solving all in one camp! Students can “take a trip to Hogwarts” or scrimmage against friends in a friendly game of soccer or dodgeball. Campers can create beautiful, original hair-bows that they can keep! And, yes, students can join more than one camp. You can register online at mypaymentsplus or send in a completed registration form with check or cash payment.

Counselor's Corner
Hello Blue Bear Families!
Mrs. Bryant and Ms. Patterson have had a great start to our school year meeting with students, groups, and classroom counseling. The focus of our classroom lessons have been showing your SPARK, 7-Mindsets, and how to meet with a counselor when needed. We are so excited to have two counselors on campus so we can help even more! Next month, our classroom counseling curriculum will focus on Child Lures and Personal Safety. Please see attached parent letter for more information. Thank you for the opportunity for us to help all of our students grow their social and emotional intelligence!
Have a Ridiculously Amazing Day!
Mrs. Bryant & Ms. Patterson
A Message from Nurse Jamie
Hello Blue Bear Parents!
It’s been a great start to the 2018-19 school year! As we head into flu season, now is a good time to review our wellness policy. Students must be fever free for 24 full hours without fever reducing medications before returning to school. The CDC defines a fever as 100.0 degrees F or higher. Students must be free of vomiting, and free from diarrhea for a full 24 hours before returning to school. Encouraging things such as covering sneezes and coughs with the inner elbow, frequent hand washing, and avoiding touching face/nose/eyes are also helpful with preventing the spread of contagious illnesses. If you would like to donate some supplies to the clinic, we always appreciate tissues, paper cups, small cans of ginger ale, and snack or sandwich size Ziploc style bags. The health and wellness of our students is my top priority. It is an honor to serve Mashburn Elementary!
Warmest Regards,
Jamie Troup BSN, RN
