Duryea Dolphin Newsletter
December 2020
Dear Duryea Families,
Greetings Duryea Families! I hope that my letter finds you all doing well.
We have some upcoming events that you will want to mark on your calendar! Please support our Online Book Fair. It will end December 3rd. To prepare for upcoming instruction, our Connect students may pick up their materials on Thursday, December 10th from 4:45-6:30. On December 11th, we will have our 2nd Remote Learning Day. Students have the option to learn at home on this day.
This month we have a few fun activities planned as well! We will have Polar Express/Pajama Day on December 15th. Connect students can wear their PJs to virtual class while Face to Face students can wear their school appropriate PJs and tennis shoes to school on that day. We are also excited about our Virtual Family Reading Night on December 15th from 6-7. On December 18, our students will have their Winter Parties before we leave for the holiday break. Treats and crafts will be provided by our wonderful Duryea PTO!
Of course I can't forget the fun activity planned for our students who are able to redeem their earned PBIS points and join Mrs. Primous for Cocoa and Crafts in December!
During this time of change and uncertainty, I am constantly amazed at the perseverance and tenacity of our parents, staff and students. Each day, whether you have a face to face or a Connect student, I am thankful and proud of the way each of you support our school and students.
Wishing you and your families peace, love, and many blessings this Christmas and into the New Year!
Sincerely,
Tomicka Williams, Principal

Wash your cloth mask whenever it gets dirty or at least daily. If you have a disposable face mask, throw it away after wearing it once.
Using a washing machine
- Include your mask with your regular laundry.

By hand
- Wash your mask with tap water and laundry detergent or soap.
- Rinse thoroughly with clean water to remove detergent or soap.
Dry your mask

If a parent drops off/picks up a student in the school, the screening questions will be asked of the studentās parent.
Students at school who show symptoms of COVID-19 will be evaluated by the nurse. The nurse will determine whether that child can remain at school.
The clinic will have an isolation area identified for suspected COVID-19 cases and be equipped with air purification systems. In addition, physical barriers, such as partitions, screens, or curtains may be utilized to establish separate areas for sick and well visits.
Areas used by the individual with COVID-19 symptoms will be sanitized as soon as it is feasible.

Duryea Parents,
This is the time of the year we speak of BOXTOPS FOR EDUCATION and the funds it generates for the school. There are two ways of gathering the Box Tops:
1. Cut them out, put them in a baggie, and send them to the school if your child is face to face. If they are virtual you may drop them off to the front desk.
2. Download the BoxTops app on your phone and follow the directions given. Go to BTFE.com for instructions.
As always thank you for your support in Duryea and our students.
