Principal Message

November 2, 2023
Note from Mrs. Craft
Dear Parents,
Happy Thursday! We have had a fantastic week. I was so impressed with the talent of our third and fourth graders. We had scooter tricks, singing, dancing, magic tricks and so much more! It was definitely an afternoon filled with pizazz! I enjoyed seeing our students share their passions with their peers. As a reminder, our Kindergarten, first and second graders will have the opportunity to share their talent during the spring semester during their Music class. Mrs. Hebert will send information home next semester. A big thank you to Mrs.Hebert for all of her hard work on the talent show.
I wanted to let you know that this will be my final principal message as the principal at Hart Elementary. It has been an honor and privilege to serve this community, and this school will always hold a very special place in my heart. I have spent the past two weeks transitioning Mrs. Acosta, and I know that our staff, students, and all of you are in very good hands. In the short time that she has been here, she has built relationships with our students and staff and some of you. She has great energy, and I know that she will not miss a beat, and the transition will be seamless. I wish all of you the very best, and I look forward to seeing your children grow through social media.
All My Best,
Wendy Craft
My mission is to be a servant leader who works with students, parents, and staff to build a community that fosters relationships and learning where everyone THRIVES. Each day, I strive to make the choice to be great versus comfortable, because you can't be both!

NEW! How to check your child's progress throughout the grading period.
How is my child doing?
As you know, Lovejoy ISD utilizes standards based grading for students in Kindergarten through 4th grade. A Parent FAQ has been created to provide you with information regarding our district’s standards based grading practices.
Beginning in the 2nd quarter, you will be able to use PowerSchool to view your child’s performance indicators for each standard assessed during the grading period. Please know that the performance indicators will not be finalized until the end of the quarter. Students are provided with multiple opportunities to show mastery on standards throughout the grading period. The final performance indicator will appear on your child’s report card.
To log into the PowerSchool Parent Portal, please use the link below. This link will allow you to sign in, create an account, or recover your username and password.
Once you log into the parent portal, click the “Standards Based Grades” tab to monitor your child’s progress on standards taught throughout the grading period.
If you have any questions regarding your child’s progress, please contact his or her teacher.
Lovejoy Letter Campaign
Visiting Hart Elementary
In a continued effort to support our safety and security posture at the front entrance doors at each campus, all visitors are required to show ID prior to entering our facilities. The front office staff member will continue to ask each visitor what their intended business is at the campus, and visitors will present their ID to the camera intercom system prior to entry. Once the visitor ID is verified, the front office staff member will then allow entry. Note: Visitors should keep their ID in hand, as they will have to use it to sign into Raptor upon entry.
Attendance Update
Attendance continues to be a top priority for Lovejoy ISD. It should come as no surprise that attendance has a direct relationship with student learning. Additionally, public school funding is provided by the State of Texas based on each district's average daily attendance (ADA).
Lovejoy has developed an Attendance Task Force consisting of staff, parents, and students to formulate ideas about how to positively impact ADA in our district. One suggestion is to update the community via weekly principal communication on the number of absences each campus has accrued YTD along with the budgetary impact of those absences. This information can be found below:
3rd Grade Field Trip
Hart Elementary 3rd graders will attend an orchestral performance by the Allen Philharmonic on Wednesday, November 15th at the Allen HS PAC. The cost of the trip is $8.00 and is due Wednesday 11/8. You can pay with cash, check made out to Hart Elementary, or you can click here to pay via Revtrak (online).
Veterans Day Celebration
You are invited to join us for our Veterans Day Assembly on Friday, November 10th at 9:30 am. Please invite your special Veterans to attend.
We hope to honor these guests by showing them our gratitude and respect for their duty in serving to protect our country and enabling us to celebrate freedom in our everyday lives.

A Note from Nurse Tami
Hi, Hart families! Please help your child choose warm, comfortable clothing for school each day, including socks. With this cold weather, it’s a good idea to dress in multiple layers. Mittens, gloves and/or a hat are also recommended.
Please do not send your child to school if he/she has:
- Flu-like symptoms (fever and/or chills, headache, muscle pain or body aches, feeling tired or weak, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, sneezing, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, vomiting, and diarrhea)
- A fever of 100.0 degrees or greater
- Vomiting or diarrhea
- An infection that requires antibiotics (i.e. strep throat, pink eye, etc.) unless they have been on antibiotics for a full 24 hours.
If your child is sick and tests positive for anything, please send me an email to let me know. This helps me monitor our campus health. Thank you for helping me keep Hart healthy.
