Catie Gingrich
6th Grade Learning Support Teacher
The Wonderful World of 6th Grade
After graduating from East Stroudsburg University with my Special Education and Elementary Education certificates, I had the opportunity to teach K-3 Learning Support in York, Pennsylvania. After three years in York, I made the switch to a 6th grade learning support position at Lower Dauphin. I now teach Mathematics, Language Arts, and Instructional Support. It was a big change, but I have loved every minute of 6th grade! As I enter my fifth year of teaching, I am excited to return to the "Wonderful World of 6th Grade" and to continue to be a part of the Lower Dauphin team.
Did You Know?
- I love to hike and bike. These are two hobbies that I find relaxing and fun!
- I have a dog, Roo, that I love spending time with, whether it is a walk, a game of fetch (assuming he remembers to bring the ball back), or an afternoon at the dog park. He even kayaks with me, sometimes! He is a spoiled little boy!
- I love to read mysteries and romance novels. Reading can be exciting when you find your "just right" book.
- I love elephants. I take a trip to the National Zoo in Washington D.C. each year so that I can see the elephants.
Some Things to Look Forward To
Study Island
A technology source you'll be sure to use! This website is a great source for reviewing Math and Language Arts materials. It will become part of our weekly routine to sign into Study Island to practice what we have learned.
Smart Boards
You will have the chance to interact on our class Smart Board. Whether it is through instruction, guided practice, or review games, the Smart Board will be part of our daily classroom routines.
Clickers
You will have the chance to play review games and to show what you know by using our Clickers Response System. It is a fun way to take a pretest or to play a review game!
Questions or Ideas?
If you have any questions or any suggestions, I am always open to either! Many of my 2012-2013 students were able to introduce me to new learning websites that we used often in the classroom! If you know of something that works and that is fun, speak up! We love to share and learn together!
Welcome to the Wonderful World of 6th Grade!
