News from Sanborn School
October 23, 2020
A note from Mrs. Johansen
I hope everyone has had a GREAT week! I am so proud of our school community! Our in-person students are adjusting nicely to the new school routines and we are so grateful for all of your patience and grace as we've altered our school environment! Our virtual students are doing an amazing job as well! I hear from the virtual teachers about the cool things they are doing in their classes. This has been such a challenging year and I love how our school community has risen to the challenge! Way to go, Tigers!
Thank you to the parents who have been joining us for our monthly PTA meetings. Please consider joining the Sanborn PTA and attending our monthly meetings. In the next section of this newsletter, you'll see information about this Fall's Book Fair- which is sponsored by the PTA. This is just one example of all the great work this organization does for our school.
Now that Fall weather is upon us, please be aware that your child should dress appropriately for the changing weather. Layers are important as we are going outside as much as possible for mask breaks and daily recess. Sanborn follows the District 15 Recess Plan that can be access at this link: https://www.ccsd15.net/Page/67 .
We've been updating our social media sites with pictures of classroom activities. Check them out on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter!
We are rescheduling our picture retake day to later in November. You may remember it was supposed to be Monday, the 26th. With COVID, there has been a delay in shipping and we are still waiting for pictures to come in. As soon as we have a new date, I'll get that out to everyone. Our company told me that you can view your child's picture online at this site if you ordered pictures: https://inter-state.com/MyOrderCode
Due to logistical and safety protocols we will not be having any Halloween festivities this school year. This is district wide. This means that students may NOT wear costumes to school and we will NOT be having class parties. However, that doesn't mean we won't have any fun next week! In the spirit of 2020 and this COVID year, we will have a spirit week that both our in-person and virtual students will be able to participate in! Our school district will be having a district-wide Spirit Week that is detailed below in the flyers.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Fondly,
Erika Johansen
