Dear Parents/Guardians:
Happy Friday Sister Alphonse Academy Families!
This year we are called to be witnesses, we are being called to Arise up: Get up, Get Going! Part of this witnessing in the world is letting one’s light shine, demonstrating the many gifts that God has given each and every one of us.
The Awards celebration that took place this past week was a special occasion where we were able to celebrate as a school community the many gifts, talents and achievements of our students from the 2020/2021 school year. Our students, along with their families and teachers, SERVE, ACHIEVE AND ASPIRE using their God given talents and strengths to experience that success. Academic awards, sports awards and special interest group recognition are what make this event memorable and special to all. Thank you to all of our parents and guardians who were able to join us online for this event!
Take care, God bless and have a great weekend!

At Sister Alphonse Academy, we are learning about the Catholic Social Teaching of preferential options for the poor and vulnerable. This means that we are following in Jesus’ footsteps and helping to support those in need within our community. Please help us support the vulnerable citizens in our community by bringing in non-perishable food items between October 18th and 29th. Thank you for your support!
RCIA for Children - St. Albert Parish
Please see a message from Ms. Sakowich, Pastoral assistant at St. Albert Catholic Parish:
We will be starting the RCIA adapted for children on November 7 at the parish. This will be open to children aged 7-12 who have yet to be baptized.
Depending on the grade they will be baptized and possibly receive the sacraments of First Communion and Confirmation at the Easter Vigil in April. If there are any questions regarding the process you can contact me at Rebecca.sakowich@caedm.ca or contacting the parish office 780-459-6691.
We have already started the RCIA journey for adults, but it is not too late to join. If there are any parents or teachers that want to know more they can also contact me at the office.

GSACRD Voice!
We hope you all had wonderful and relaxing Thanksgiving weekends. In just a few short weeks, our October Parent Cafe will be on Tuesday, October 26 from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM.
This session will be offered by our very own Wellness Coaches, Caitlin Josey and Brittany Bowdige, and they will be teaching how to help children develop self-awareness and coping strategies with those 'hard-to-have' feelings.
Our session and strategies presented are based on the evidence-based programs we use in schools (ex: Kimochis, Worry Woos, Second Step) and have seen success within the classrooms.
This session is great for parents/guardians and school staff to learn about different techniques to use with kiddos from preschool-aged to grade 12.
Please feel free to share our post on our Facebook page (link below in signature) to your school pages and to share in your newsletters to families. The poster is also attached for your convenience if you wish to print and display it.
To register for our virtual session, please click here. We hope to 'see' you there!
Sincerely,
The GSACRD Voice Team
Lauren, Brittany, Caitlin, & Monique
