ELEMENTARY PHYSICAL EDUCATION
We always have a "BALL" in phys. ed.
DECEMBER
Shown below are the various activities that students are currently learning about and participating in. Since my November newsletter was published prior to Thanksgiving, the first photos are of Thanksgiving activities. Continue down the page for most recent activities.
K-2 : Stuff The Turkey
Students throw from designated spots to students standing in hoops. If the ball is caught it is "stuffed" inside the vest the student is wearing
K-2: Turkey Round Up
Students use paddles to round the turkeys up and get them back to their pen.

Pictured is one of the "turkeys" from the round up.
GRADES 3-6: HARRY POTTER COMES TO P.E. QUIDDITCH
Grades 3-6 just finished playing Quidditch. A game first seen in the Harry Potter movies was adapted for phys. ed. class. Watch the video below to see the elements of the game.
Harry Potter: All About Quidditch
QUIDDITCH
Pictured below is our version of Quidditch. Students fly on brooms (pool noodles). "Chasers" attempt to throw the Quaffle (ball) through the hoops. "Beaters" attempt to prevent goals by hitting chasers with the Bludgers (green ball). "Keepers" attempt to guard the hoops and prevent goals. "Seekers" try to capture the Snitch (a tiny yellow ball).
Snowball Fight
two teams throw snowballs (fleece balls). The primary objective is to knock the other team's pins down. However, to defend their pins the other team can hit the other with snowballs. If struck, the player must complete an exercise before returning to the game.
Snowman
Students use miscellaneous pieces of equipment to create a snowman.
Christmas Door Decorating
I went a little overboard with decorating my office door. Still a kid at heart....
