5th Grade News!
October 13th - 16th
MALE CHAPERONES NEEDED
If there is a grandfather or uncle that is interested, that's fine too! They just have to pass the FISD background check!!!
Please fill out this form if you are interested -
- Please let your child's teacher know if they will be going home with another student or going home another way (ex. carpool - walker)
- We do have pencils on hand for students when they don't have one, but they are dwindling away quickly! Please help remind your student to be prepared with supplies when they come to class.
New Library System
The new library system does not allow students to check out if they have overdue books. Parents get emails if their child has an overdue book. Below is a video explaining this new policy. It is only about a minute and a half long.
- Paper towels
- Lysol Wipes
Over the next two weeks we will be working on analyzing data in different types of graphs! This week we will focus on Frequency tables, bar graphs, and dot plots.
Graphing is our last unit before our first Math CBA on Oct. 29th. We will be working at the teacher table and WIN time reviewing concepts that we have covered in this first cluster. I will work on a list of skills we have covered for you to talk about with your students, but there will not be a question review sent home for the CBA. We need realistic data to help us with what needs to be touched on again!
Homework: Think Through Math - Complete 1 Lesson
Homework: Study Spelling Words
This week we will create simple and compound sentences with correct subject-verb agreement.
HOMEWORK: Vocabulary words for Week 2
*When the students show me their vocabulary definitions, I will give them a link to a game to help them learn their words
HOMEWORK: Read at least 20 minutes per night. Keep track in your agenda. A response will be posted on Tuesday. Please respond in your spiral.
Names to Know
Looking for a way to volunteer at the school? The library needs your help. Come to the library volunteer orientation Wednesday, September 9 at 10:00 and see if it is something you might be interested in doing. No experience necessary! If you are not able to make the orientation, please email or call Michelle Mayo at email@example.com or (469)633-4086 and we will gladly set up a more convenient time for you.
In order for someone else to pick up your child, those individuals need to be added to your child’s emergency contact list. These additions can be made by emailing our Data Clerk, Rhonda, Cowlishaw: firstname.lastname@example.org
This has also been asked a LOT this week: How do I change my child from a walker to a Carpool pickup (or whatever change they need): Changes need to be communicated by Noon! (This is also in the Parent Handbook)
