Afternoon Falcons, Families, and Friends:
It was great to welcome back everyone to a full week of learning and fun!
This week we've had a glimpse of the nicer weather to come, and are optimistically hoping for warmer temperatures, flowers growing, and longer-lasting light into the evening hours. As these things begin to appear, though, they become signs that the school year is winding down, and big events are on the horizon.
I good way to make sure you're up to date on important information like 22-23 Registration, 5th grade celebrations, and end of year events, is to check all your communication streams. Information can come from our News From The Nest every Friday, the PTA newsletters every Monday, and individual IPSD 204 emails, so be sure to check that you're receiving all notifications for your student, and staying up to date with everything going on at Graham.
Also, I want to end my note with my own communication, which is a hearty congratulations to our 2nd Grade students and their teachers on a wonderful evening concert performed last week! The amazing family and community turnout to see the songs their students have been working on for many weeks is heartwarming, and the support our community has for our students never ceases to amaze me.
Enjoy your weekend, and we'll see you on Monday!
Sincerely,
Ms. Walton
Residency Verification
The district is again contracting with a third party vendor to automatically verify student address information. As was the case last year, they anticipate the overwhelming majority of our families will be electronically verified.
If your residency is electronically verified, you will receive a letter of confirmation and there will be no need to submit any additional paperwork to certify that you live within the district’s boundaries.
A letter will also be sent to families whose residency we are unable to verify electronically. The letter will provide details on additional information you will need to provide by May 3, 2021 in order to register your child for the upcoming school year.
Verifying residency is an effort to protect taxpayers and district resources by identifying non-residents attending District 204 schools. Illinois law mandates that parents demonstrate residency prior to enrollment in school and allows for periodic verification to validate compliance with the law.
Please contact the main office with any questions or concerns.

Screenings have been postponed, and a rescheduled date will be announced in the coming weeks.
Graham School will be conducting vision and hearing screenings. These screening tests are mandated by the Department of Public Health at specific times during a child’s educational experience. If your child wears glasses, please make sure they have them in school on testing days. Vision screening is not a substitute for a complete eye and vision evaluation by an eye doctor.
Your child is not required to undergo this vision screening if an optometrist or ophthalmologist has completed a signed a report indicating that an examination has been administered within the previous twelve months and that evaluation is on file at the school. Vision and hearing screenings are not optional. If an examination report is not on file at school for your child, then your child in the mandated age/grade/group will be screened.
Young Rembrandts Reminder
Young Rembrandts is once again resuming at Graham Elementary. If your student previously participated, and wishes to participate for the Spring, they must register again. If your student hasn't previously participated and would like to, they can register at the link below:
