Introduction

There are three main kinds of coral reefs. What are they? Read to find out.

#1 and #2

The first coral reef is a barrier reef. It grows away from the shoreline. Unlike the barrier reef the fringing reef grows near the shoreline.

#3

The third reef is an atoll. An atoll reef is a shape of a ring. An atoll reef can be found in the ring of an extinct volcano.
