The Eagle's Call π¦ β

From Principal Tim Huber
Winter Weather Thoughts βββ
Did your children wear their pajamas inside out this week? Flush an ice cube down the toilet? Put a spoon under their pillow? I was skeptical when my son requested to perform these rituals this week, however, it seems to have worked! According to this today.com article, children and adults everywhere believe that they can make snow days more likely with these rituals. I hope you and your family enjoyed some relaxation today or at least a slower pace. As the snow falls, I hope our Eagles who have never had the chance to play in snow get to do so today or tomorrow!
We are looking forward to welcoming back Track 4 children and staff next week. With the increased volume of carpool traffic, please remember to pull all the way forward to the light pole for AM carpool, and to refrain from cell phone use during PM carpool.
Thank you for your continued support of your children and our school. Together, we will help our children SOAR to reach their greatest potential!

RECAP: School Lockdown Drill on January 18th
On Tuesday, January 18th, we completed a lockdown drill during the afternoon. After the announcement was made, our office Command Center was activated and all students and staff sheltered and hid behind locked doors. Any students and staff who were outside moved safely away from campus to safe locations as directed by the staff supervising. Our WCPSS Security Administrator and 3 Raleigh police officers assisted with evaluating our preparedness during the drill, which lasted approximately 20 minutes.
We are likely to conduct another lockdown drill later this school year when Track 4 is tracked in.
For information about our plans and procedures to keep your children safe, refer to the Safety and Emergencies page on the school district website.

To sign up: https://herecomesthebus.com/parents/get-started/ . The WCPSS school code for school bus tracking is 67500. You will need to use your child's student ID number as well.
You can also follow @HCESBuses on Twitter to confirm when your child's bus leaves campus each afternoon.
Register For School Meal Benefits π΄ππ
Yes, meals will still be free for all students through June 2022 but we still need you to complete a meal benefits application so our school can be eligible for this extra education funding next school year. Also, this ensures your student is covered for the first few weeks of school next year. Information about applying for Meal Benefits can be found at www.wcpss.net/meals. Help our school continue to receive this funding by completing an application online at MySchoolApps.com. Paper applications can be requested by calling 919-588-3535.

ACTION REQUESTED: Restart Your Child's WCPSS Chromebook Weekly π»
WCPSS Technology Services has seen an increase in security issues due to WCPSS devices not being restarted regularly. Restarting a device allows updates for new security and productivity features.
Students and staff should restart their WCPSS devices once per week. Consider setting a specific day for this, such as a Restart Wednesday or Restart Friday. (Important: Closing the lid only locks the device and does not shut it down.)
Restarting also can resolve many other common issues impacting student devices. Always restart a WCPSS device before contacting the Help Desk.
Thank you!
